Position Summary
The Gift Officer cultivates relationships with individuals that lead to philanthropic gifts to Westminster College at the annual leadership and major gift level.
Under the direction of the Senior Director of Strategic and Planned Gifts, the Gift Officer cultivates relationship with prospective and current donors to obtain funds for Westminster College at the annual leadership, major and planned gift levels.
This involves prospect research and developing effective strategies as well as stewarding donors throughout the giving process.
The key to this position is to expand connections that will cultivate outcomes in the funding for the short- and long-term goals of the College.
Successful performance in this position will open opportunities for career progression.
Primary Responsibilities
Fundraising and Donor Engagement
- Effectively qualify, cultivate, and solicit identified prospects. Prioritize relationship building and cultivation activity with alumni and friends in the Westminster community.
- Identify and engage new individuals with giving opportunities at Westminster focusing on developing and improving potential donor prospects
- Assist in developing fundraising strategies for college priorities working with campus partners; administration, deans, directors, student associations
- Maintain and grow a portfolio of established donors and prospects
- Meet specific fundraising, face to face visit, contact and solicitation goals as determined annually,
- Assist in short- and long-range strategic planning activity to establish fundraising goals
- Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and four or more years of fundraising or like experience
- Successful relationship manager with demonstrated ability to conduct face to face solicitations targeting substantial philanthropic gifts
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to initiate and enjoy direct communication with alumni and donors; customer-service orientation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to work in a team environment contributing to the team goal
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to travel and meet with donors.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience as a fundraising professional in higher education setting, with preference for experience in a private institution
Additional Requirements
Regular travel throughout the year and / or at specified times of the year will be required. Extended hours, including evenings and weekends will be required.
