DescriptionWeare seeking a skilled StaffResearch Associate to join our team and assist inpreparation, management, and daily use of critical laboratory resources,including reagents for molecular biology experiments (2XYT, TAE, and bacterialplates) and mammalian cell culture experiments.
Optimize and perform severallaboratory techniques. Assist with determining the best experimental procedurefor all the critical experiments.
Perform isolation of protein, RNA, and DNA.Perform maxiprep, miniprep, restriction digest and electrophoresis of plasmid.
Perform production of lentiviral vectors and transduction of cell with thevectors. Perform experiments using animal models of lentiviral transduction.
Perform experiments using BSL2+ replication competent virus, such as humanimmunodeficiency virus type 1. This role will entail a large amount of tissueculture work such as cell maintenance type work.
In addition, the position willrequire basic knowledge in molecular biology (such as written in the textbook,"Molecular Cloning", published by Cold Spring Harbor LaboratoryPress).
You will work closely with other lab members in conducting large-scaleexperiments. Assist with general organization, ordering, stocking andmaintenance of inventory laboratory supplies.
Management of chemical andbiohazard safety. Cleaning of lab and office space.Salary offers are determined based on various factors including,but not limited to, qualifications, experience, and equity.
UCLA Health hourlysalary range for this position is $26.52- $31.63.QualificationsRequired : Experience in microbiology, immunology, and molecular genetics.
Experience in isolation of protein, DNA, and RNAAbility in maintaining proper usage of laboratory equipment.Ability to perform gel electrophoresis.
Skills in general molecular biology and biochemical techniques.Ability to organize raw data into relevant formats.Preferred : Experience in tissue culture procedures.
Skills in using computer and Excel software.Ability to assist with general lab organization, safety, ordering, stocking, and maintenance of inventory laboratory supplies.
