Normal Work Schedule : Monday - Friday 8 : 00am to 5 : 00pm; some evenings & weekends.

Job Summary : The Professional Development Program Director provides oversight and planning for the professional development of staff in a large division.

Leads professional development, awards, and recognition programs and processes for the division. Collaborates with campus training and development opportunities.

Serves as the primary connection to divisional professional associations, peer institutions, and best practices related to professional and student staff development.

Additional Department Summary : Serves a critical role in supporting of professional development of nearly 300 professional staff members and almost 1000 student staff.

Develops, implements, and evaluates professional development processes and programs for the division, including but not limited to staff on-boarding, ongoing professional development, and other staff development initiatives.

Assesses staff needs and provide training and development for emerging needs. Utilizes divisional committees and partnerships with the Divisional HR Partner, campus-wide HR Learning & Development, Agility Team, and other resources across the campus and community to provide training and professional development opportunities for DSL staff.

Provides leadership for awards and recognition programs and processes for the Division of Student Life, including but not limited to : coordination of divisional efforts to nominate staff for professional awards both internal and external to the university, leadership of the DSL awards and recognition committee, and development of divisional opportunities for ongoing recognition for staff and students of all levels.

Serves as the divisional point of contact for Student Affairs / Life professional associations. Engages with national governing bodies of Student Affairs, functional areas, and peers across the nation with the purpose of staying informed about trends and best practices.

Encourages engagement from UA SL staff to professional organizations. Completes required training. Promotes a safe, hospitable, and respectful workplace.

Holds staff accountable for completion of required training. Completes financial reporting. Establishes, enforces, and follows internal processes and controls as outlined in University policies and procedures.

Required Minimum Qualifications : Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of training facilitation and creation experience;

OR master's degree and two (2) years of training facilitation and creation experience.

Skills and Knowledge : Knowledge and awareness of organizational culture in higher education. Ability to present materials effectively in both verbal and written form to various constituents.

Strong communication skills. Knowledge of assessment and continuous improvement strategies. Ability to research and implement best practices from across the field and industry.

Demonstrated self-starter. Ability to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications : Master's degree in Higher Education Administration or Human Resources. Five (5) years experience in Student Life / Student Affairs.

Experience leading training and development programs.
