Overview
The Registered Nurse (RN) will assume responsibility and accountability for care of adolescent, adult and geriatric acute med-surg / cardiac patients.
The RN will utilize the nursing process in the provision of care and will practice within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Arkansas and the policies, procedures and standards of the Health System.
The RN will demonstrate a commitment to teamwork through effective collaboration efforts.
Responsibilities
- Practices according to safety and infection control policies
- Initiates and follows established standards in emergency situation(s)
- Maintains confidentiality in matters relating to patient, family and staff
- Reports appropriately and in a positive effective manner on patient status to members of the health care team
- Communicates with patients, family and friends in a professional manner exhibiting patience and tact, which decreases anxiety and conveys an attitude of acceptance, sensitivity and caring
- Uses appropriate hand off communications to other team members practicing proper telephone etiquette
- Demonstrates the ability to assume a leadership role
- Demonstrates priority setting and time management abilities
- Initiates problem solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships
- Participates in collegial interaction with other healthcare professionals
- Promotes teamwork
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse with current, active license to practice in Arkansas
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
- Minimum two (2) years' experience in an acute care hospital setting as a registered nurse
- Proof of high school or equivalent or higher education
- Basic keyboarding skills, preferred
- Successful completion of American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers
- Lethal Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation required; Cardiac Dysrhythmia Interpretation preferred
