The opportunity
The Senior Director, Marketing New Product Planning and Legacy Portfolio will be a critical leadership role within US Innovative Medicines (IM) Marketing team.
The role is responsible for leading marketing’s collaboration with business development and incubating pre-commercialization planning activities for new products, including financial forecasting.
The role is also responsible for life cycle management and driving P&L performance of the legacy brands portfolio.
How you’ll spend your day
- Act as a key liaison with Global Portfolio and Business Development (BD) teams to evaluate and validate market-related assumptions, including market share, market size, gross-to-net percentage, marketing and promotional efforts, sales force costs, and contract terms.
- Review and analyze financial evaluations of potential initiatives, including Net Present Value (NPV), Return on Investment (ROI), and pay-back period.
- Drive pre-commercialization activities and create preliminary brand plans for assets in the R&D and / or BD pipeline.
- Gather and coordinate input from other teams (e.g., Market Access, Patient Services, Medical Affairs) necessary to inform pipeline and business development decisions.
- Assist in the financial modeling and development of ROI and marketing strategies for upcoming product launches, including pre-launch planning.
- Drives overall performance, the P&L, and lifecycle management for a portfolio of legacy brands, including working closely with Marketing, Sales, Market Access, Patient Services, and Operations & Analytics teams to develop key programs and initiatives.
- Support the divestment, bundling, or discontinuation of legacy brands by providing financial justifications and working closely with global Business Development and Alliance Management teams to ensure accelerated execution.
- Collaborate with procurement and brand teams to identify and leverage synergies for cost efficiencies.
- Identify and collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve key above brand initiatives and goals.
- Monitor the latest marketing trends in the broader biotech / pharma industry and ensure marketing processes are aligned with industry best practices.
- Employ knowledge of compliance, regulatory, and legal policies for reimbursement, product coverage across channels and payers, and HCP engagements.
- Develop and implement an investment decision-making framework to optimize spending and cost-effectiveness.
- Responsible for hiring, developing, leading, and coaching team members within organization.
- Create and maintain a culture of high-performance with integrity and compliance.
Your experience and qualifications
Education / Certification / Experience :
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred
- A minimum of 15 years of Biotech / Pharma or relevant brand management experience required
- Brand management experience on more than one brand and in more than one major therapeutic area (e.g. Psychiatry, Mental Health Disorders)
- Experience managing across all phases of the product lifecycle
- Breadth of experience across multiple Commercial functions (e.g. Sales, Marketing, Operations & Analytics, Patient Services, Market Access)
- Previous people management experience

Travel Requirements
Approximately 35% travel throughout the US, which may include weekend and overnight and periodic international travel.
