The Safety manager will plan, implement, and coordinate programs to reduce or eliminate the following : occupational injuries and illnesses, violations of federal and state safety regulations;

abuse of the workers compensation system; and financial losses from above. Also develop and coordinate programs to improve the new hire orientation and training on the manufacturing floor.

Job Responsibilites

  • Develop health and safety programs to meet requirements of corporate and regulatory agencies
  • Provide training for all current and new employees to ensure their safety and the compliance with corporate / government safety requirements
  • Identify and appraise conditions which could produce accidents and financial losses and evaluate potential injuries resulting from accidents
  • Administer incident investigations program so all incidents are reported, investigated and prompt corrective action is taken and substantiated
  • Assist the Leadership Team with the development of new products, processes and procedures to ensure the health and safety of all is given the highest priority
  • Develop appropriate safety metrics to identify trends and recommend corrective actions
  • Communicate activities of department to company and corporate management regularly and accurately
  • Coordinate activities of all employees to ensure implementation of safety policies / procedures throughout the organization
  • Compile, and interpret statistical data related to exposure factors
  • Manage workers compensation activities, including maintaining OSHA log, submitting required reports, managing cases and appropriation of funds
  • Coordinate a mentor program for new hires
  • Develop departmental budget and manage department expenses.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS in Occupational Safety, Industrial Technology, Human Resources or related degree
  • 5+ years Safety Management experience in a multiple facility environment
  • CSP, CHMM and CWCP certifications preferred
  • Experience managing claims for a self-insured employer and an aggressive case management philosophy
