Job Description :
Position Overview : The HVAC Service Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
This role involves prioritizing customer communication, diagnosing and troubleshooting issues, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring that systems operate efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities :
- Customer Interaction :
- Communicate with customers to explain system issues, repair options, and maintenance procedures.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing customer concerns, answering questions, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Installation and Maintenance :
- Install HVAC systems, including air conditioners, furnaces, heat pumps, and ventilation systems.
- Perform routine maintenance on HVAC systems, including cleaning, adjusting, and lubricating parts.
- Troubleshooting and Repair :
- Diagnose HVAC system issues and determine appropriate repair solutions.
- Repair or replace defective components, such as motors, thermostats, and compressors.
- System Testing :
- Test HVAC systems for proper operation and efficiency.
- Use diagnostic tools and equipment to measure airflow, refrigerant levels, and electrical components.
- Safety Compliance :
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Adhere to OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Documentation and Reporting :
- Maintain accurate records of services performed, including work orders, maintenance logs, and repair reports.
- Complete service reports and provide detailed summaries of work completed to customers and supervisors.
- Inventory Management :
- Manage inventory of HVAC parts and supplies on service vehicles.
- Order and restock parts as needed to ensure availability for repairs.
- Continuous Learning :
- Stay updated on industry advancements, new HVAC technologies, and best practices.
- Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance technical skills.
- Quality Assurance :
- Ensure all work meets quality standards and customer expectations.
- Conduct final inspections to verify that HVAC systems are functioning correctly.
Qualifications :
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical school certification is a plus.
- Proven experience as an HVAC service technician.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- EPA certification for handling refrigerants is required.
- Physical ability to perform manual work, including lifting, bending, and working in confined spaces.
Work Environment :
- Work is performed in residential and commercial settings, both indoors and outdoors.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions and temperatures.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
Physical Requirements :
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to stand, walk, and climb ladders or scaffolding.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
