THE ROLE :

The strategic sourcing manager will be responsible for managing commercial activities, pricing and supply for semiconductor commodities.

You will be responsible for managing board components as commodity as the global lead for the company. You will regularly interact with BU engineering to drive supply chain initiatives.

You will play an integral part in managing supplier and contract manufacturer relation development through innovation and collaboration from NPI to MP.

In this role you will develop a global procurement strategy; implementing a supplier development program that has an integrated long-term approach on cost, quality, and service.

You will also be responsible for developing and managing the strategic supplier relationship.

You exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for acquiring results. You are technically savvy and network with key contacts outside own area of expertise.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Lead cost saving program for managed categories; Drive competitive bid process & analysis, price negotiation, cost reduction and business awards for the commodity with key suppliers.
• Manage NPI and MP builds at contract manufacturer by collaborating with business unit and operations.
• Manage supplier's performance to contractual requirements which meet AMD short- and long-term needs. Implement contracts to minimize AMD risk and enable supplier accountability for non-performance.
• Lead Supplier Performance Management (SPM) with key suppliers and manage the quarterly scorecard to review service level on cost, technology, quality, service, and flexibility.
• Develop commodity strategy by monitoring ecosystem trends and drive projects by collaborating with business unit engineering experts.
• Understand industry trends through on-going market research, benchmarking, and technology competitive assessment.
• Execute all activities associated with Procure-to-Pay such that orders are issued and invoiced in a timely manner
• Demonstrate efficient and effective use of AMD strategic sourcing and Procure-to-Pay processes. Communicate effectively with key stakeholders on all levels.
• Leverage and apply solid understanding of contracting and negotiating, risk mitigation, and supplier relationship management to manage suppliers and provide sustainable cost, quality, availability, and technology solutions with adherence to procurement policies.
• Partner with Finance and Legal to resolve disputes with suppliers' partners.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE :

• Excellent knowledge of purchasing, NPI, MP, and Contract Manufacturing.
• Good knowledge of Supply Chain Management (SCM).
• Demonstrated category sourcing strategy and cost saving skills.
• Effective communication & interpersonal skills.
• Effective leadership and project management skills.
• Consistently meets all aspects of Strategic Sourcing Manager role.
• Specific education or experience in SCM preferred.
• Understanding of global / regional markets and cultures.
• NAPM / APICS Certification preferred.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS :

BS degree plus significant experience in a related technical or business field OR MBA with experience in a related technical or business field.
