The Office of Career Services at The University of Tampa has an opening for a Coordinator of Leadership and Competency Development.
This position focuses on creating and implementing career readiness programs and resources for students that develop competencies and life skills.
The position will facilitate and collaborate with other departments to cultivate Spartan Ready culture and initiatives. The coordinator will foster relevant professional development programs for undergraduate students and assist with the development of leadership programs.

Spartan Ready is the institution-wide competency development initiative that aims to graduate students from the University of Tampa who are prepared to be successful professionals with an advanced understanding of their field of study, the interdisciplinary workplace, how to be effective leaders, and engaged citizens who contribute to society.
This position is designated as an essential employee and may be required to report to work as scheduled when University offices are closed due to severe weather or other conditions.
Responsibilities
Cultivate Spartan Ready competency development within co-curricular student experiences and student organizations.
Create an annual career readiness and life skills education calendar that incorporates existing and related cross-campus programs.
Research the implementation of a competency development tracking system for university-wide practice.
Oversee Discover UT Leadership Program (an early orientation program) and other leadership programs.
Oversee the implementation of Spartan Ready-focused experiences and programs designed to help students self-identify, develop, and discover Spartan Ready Competencies.
Design a marketing strategy to promote Spartan Ready and life skills education programs to students, faculty, and staff.
Develop learning outcomes for programs and conduct assessment at regular intervals to inform program growth.
Design, develop, and facilitate Skillshop workshops on Spartan Ready topics across campus when requested by faculty and staff.
Coordinate UTampa’s student selection process for the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce Collegiate Leadership Tampa program.
Oversee Spartan Ready and life skills education program budgets.
Supervise Competency Development student coordinator(s) and Spartan Fellows.
Assist the Associate Director of Leadership and Competency Development with leadership programming, program development, and articulation of leadership across campus.
Attend trainings and fully engage in learning and utilizing university-wide technology, specifically Workday, and other department specific technology platforms.
Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures and backgrounds.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Student Affairs, College Student Personnel Administration, Higher Education, Business, Human Resources, Sociology, Psychology, or related field required.
Experience with program development in a higher education environment.
Ability to apply student development theory, leadership theory, and learning outcomes assessment to program development.
Experience managing multiple stakeholders to produce student learning-centered programs.
Two to three years of experience with employee or student training.
Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
Strong interpersonal abilities.
Must be proficient in MS Office.
Experience with creative and design-oriented platforms, including Adobe and Canva.
Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices.
