POSITION OVERVIEW

The Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) is seeking a dedicated and highly organized Project Manager for Educational Materials.

This role involves overseeing the selection and implementation of high-quality instructional materials for Oklahoma public schools.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a thorough understanding of instructional materials and educational standards.

Please note : this role does not allow for any form of remote work, including telecommuting or hybrid arrangements. The nature of this position necessitates a consistent in-person presence.

Prospective candidates should be aware that the responsibilities associated with this role require physical presence at the designated workplace in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field official transcripts required upon hire ;
  • Possession of a valid teaching certificate, administrative certificate, or library media certificate;
  • Three (3) years experience teaching or coordinating curriculum and instruction for K-12.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in education or a related field official transcripts required upon hire ;
  • Three (3) years experience as a school administrator.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without sponsorship now or in the future;
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check;
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license from a U.S. state or territory to perform necessary job-related travel.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Knowledge & Expertise : A thorough understanding of Oklahoma state education standards and guidelines, Extensive knowledge of instructional materials, including textbooks, digital resources, and supplementary materials.

Experience in the selection, review, and adoption processes for instructional materials. Familiarity with educational publishing and the evaluation of instructional resources for quality and alignment with educational standards.

Oversee Instructional Material Cycle : Serve as the secretary of the State Textbook Committee, coordinating meetings, agendas, and communications.

Manage the review process for instructional materials, ensuring alignment with state standards and educational goals. Facilitate the selection and adoption of instructional materials by providing support to educators, administrators, and stakeholders.

Professional Demeanor : Exhibit a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude. Build relationships, display integrity, and maintain professionalism in communication, behavior, and appearance.

Embrace feedback for performance improvement.

Manage Publisher Materials and Contracts : Maintain relationships with publishers and vendors, negotiating contracts and agreements for instructional materials.

Monitor the delivery and distribution of instructional materials to schools statewide. Collaborate with finance and procurement departments to ensure compliance with budgetary guidelines and procurement procedures.

Collaborate with Stakeholders : Work closely with educators, school administrators, and community partners to gather feedback and assess the effectiveness of instructional materials.

Collaborate with other departments within OSDE to ensure alignment of programs and initiatives with overall educational objectives.

Represent OSDE in relevant committees, conferences, and meetings to advocate for high-quality instructional materials.

Data Analysis and Reporting : Collect and analyze data related to the usage and impact of instructional materials and tutoring programs.

Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, highlighting key findings and recommendations for improvement.

Utilize data-driven insights to continuously evaluate and refine program strategies and interventions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Location : Oliver Hodge Building, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

  • Work is typically performed in a climate-controlled office setting with exposure to moderate noise. While performing the duties of the job, employee is frequently required to talk, stand, walk.
  • This position requires long periods of sitting and daily use of computer and phone. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time;
  • Ability to stand, reach and bend 50% of the time;
  • Operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine / printer, office telephone 75% of the time;
  • Ascends / descends stairs 25% of the time;
  • Communicate with others accurately and effectively 100%;
  • Ability to lift to 25 lbs.

TRAVEL

Occasional (up to 10%) in-state / out-of-state travel may be required to conduct, facilitate, and / or attend meetings and trainings.
