PT Chemistry Instructor

Position Description

DEFINITION :

To provide classroom and / or online instruction to students using multiple teaching strategies and perform accurate assessment of student learning.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED :

• Receives general supervision from Department Chair, Science
• Exercises no supervision.

Duties & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

ESSENTIAL AND OTHER IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS STATEMENTS :

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following :

Essential Functions :

• Prepare and execute lessons, lectures, activities, and exercises for seated and / or online settings.
• Develop and prepare tests to evaluate student performance. Grade and record individual scores.
• Grade and return assignments and post grades in a prompt manner.
• Provide prompt and appropriate professional correspondence to students and colleagues.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance. Maintain other records as required.

Other Important Functions :

Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS : Knowledge of :

Knowledge of :

• Teaching techniques and procedures, including techniques using the internet and technology.
• Current trends, research, and development in the area of assignment.
• Principles of test development and administration.

Ability To :

• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
• Interpret and apply CFCC goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
• Maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for : Making observationsReading and writingCommunicating with othersOperating assigned equipmentHandling varied tasks simultaneously
• Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include the following : Standing or sitting for extended periods of timeOperating assigned equipmentHandling varied tasks simultaneously Stooping, bending, climbing or lifting up to 50 pounds

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES :

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be :

Minimum Education / Training :

A Master’s degree in chemistry or 18 graduate hours in chemistry
