The Clinical Supervisor at the Pepperdine University Community Counseling Center-Irvine Graduate campus prepares Pepperdine's MFT trainees to become clinically competent and culturally responsive in addressing mental health issues among children, adults, couples and families from underserved communities.

The Clinical Supervisor represents and supports trainees to engage in a life of purpose, service and leadership in their role as mental health clinicians in training by embracing integrity, curiosity, cultural humility and insight.

Duties

Provide clinical supervision to MFT trainees through weekly 1 hour meetings with each trainee (approx. 6 trainees). Be on-call to provide immediate supervision to trainees when clinical crises arise for these trainees' clients.

Model and teach, and supervise the implementation of recovery-oriented, culturally affirmative, strength-based, and evidence-based practices, as well as client-centered advocacy informed by social contexts and intersectionality.

Monitor expectations set for trainees' documentation are being met (trainees have 24-48 hrs to submit their clinical documentation and need to keep electronic records up to date).

Responsible for reviewing their supervise / trainee's documentation and approving them within 48 hrs. Collaborate with the Trainee Success Team, PUCCC-Irvine director, and Practicum Professor to ensure trainees are meeting professional competencies set by the Board of Behavioral Science, PUCCC-Irvine, and GSEP.

Maintain regular communication with the community agency's representative for trainees assigned to the community mental health rotation.

  • Provide support to the PUCCC-Irvine Director with developing systems to improve the quality of the PUCCC-Irvine practicum training program and assist in streamlining processes for a successful and positive student experience.
  • Develop and implement didactics for trainees on topics relevant to mental health (assessment, treatment, crisis management, etc.)
  • Maintain student Google Drive files and Tevera files, including ensuring up-to-date BBS paperwork (supervision contracts, 4 Way Agreements, Site Agreement)
  • Uphold the University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required : Valid Professional License (LMFT, LPCC). Great time management skills, detailed oriented, team player, organized, culturally humble, strong documentation skills, strong legal and ethical knowledge, open to learning / being flexible and co-create, experience using record keeping software, experience using EBPs with culturally diverse clients, experience providing professional presentations.

Passion for teaching and mentoring; knowledge of models of supervision : reflective, developmental, competency-based; experience using measures / assessments to track progress in therapy.

  • Preferred : Master level degree (Marriage and Family Therapy master, Professional Clinical Counselor) and / or Doctorate in Psychology;
  • Certification in evidence-based practices addressing mood disorders, trauma, family issues, and couple issues among culturally diverse populations;

previous experience providing direct clinical services and supervision. Familiar with operations of a private practice.

This is a Restricted, Nonexempt, 20 hour per week position.

Expected Pay Range : $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
