About the School of Literature, Media, and Communication at the Georgia Institute of Technology

The School of Literature, Media, and Communication is a multi-disciplinary program. It offers B.S. degrees in Literature, Media, and Communication and in Computational Media, M.

S. degrees in Digital Media, Human Computer Interaction, and Global Media and Cultures, as well as a Ph.D. in Digital Media.

The School includes the Writing and Communication Program, the Brittain Postdoctoral Fellowship Program, minors such as Black Media Studies, Social Justice, and Science Fiction Studies, and the Institute's Communication Center which provides discipline-specific courses and communication support for campus-wide audiences.

Job Summary

The School of Literature, Media, and Communication ( https : / / www.lmc.gatech.edu / ) at the Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of Early Modern Literature and Culture with scholarly interests including but not limited to cultural studies, digital humanities, ethnic and race studies, gender and sexuality studies, history of science, material culture, science and technology studies, and queer studies.

Candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching and mentoring students.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate is expected to engage in research and publication appropriate to an R1 institution, teach two courses per semester, and provide service to the school, college, and institute.

Required Qualifications

PhD in English or related field at the time of appointment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Evidence of scholarly productivity and publication.
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching.
  • The ability to teach and mentor a distinct student body.
  • The ability to promote a welcoming educational / work environment.
  • The ability to adopt teaching strategies that support the learning and success of all students.
  • Interest in and / or experience with digital technologies related to research or pedagogy.
