This is a departmental labor pool used for the hiring of Certified Aircraft Maintenance Technician Level II(s) for UAA's Aviation Technology Division, Flight Operations Department.

The Certified Aircraft Maintenance Technician (CAMT) Level 2 must :

  • Know the theory, and operation of the mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, electronic and other operating systems of UAA aircraft.
  • Know the startup, operation, shutdown, and emergency procedures of each aircraft and its systems.
  • Know the symptoms of normal and abnormal operation, and required safety procedures for each system in order to prevent damage to equipment or injury to personnel.
  • Have knowledge of the specialized work associated with aircraft maintenance such as sheet metal, painting, aircraft electrical, aircraft hydraulics, electronics, and aircraft engines.
  • Determine when work is beyond their current skills.
  • Be able to work in a timely manner, in coordination with other mechanics, and determine when the work is properly done and signed off so that the aircraft is airworthy.
  • Check all functional and support systems, operate the engine(s), and run up and taxi the aircraft to determine what systems are malfunctioning.
  • Search repair directives, technical orders, and manuals to determine repairs needed and personally perform repairs.
  • Have skill in the use of all tools of the trade, test equipment, test stands, and power sources.
  • Have knowledge of cockpit instruments, gauges, and controls so that they can operate and repair aircraft mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Have skill in the operation of diagnostic and on-board electronic equipment / systems to identify proper, as well as improper operation.
  • Have skill in interpreting and applying written guidelines, including Federal Aviation Regulations, airworthiness directives, advisory circulars, and manufacturer’s service information.

Minimum Qualifications :

Required :

Possess a valid FAA Mechanic certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings.

Preferred :

14 CFR Part 141 experience.

36 months experience maintaining aircraft operated under 14 CFR Part 91 and / or 141.

Meet the recent maintenance experience requirements of 14 CFR Part 65.83.

Certificate in Aviation Maintenance from 14 CFR Part 147 school.

Position Details :

This position is located on the Aviation Technology Complex at Merrill Field Airport in Anchorage, AK. This is a part-time, temporary position.

New hires will be placed on theUA Temporary Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 78, $40.67 / hour.
