NSHS is a fast-growing public charter school network in Nevada hosting one central office and serving approximately 1,000 11th and 12th grade students in nine(9)locations.

NSHS continues to meet the community's demand of preparing high school students to attend college without having to take remedial coursework.

Under the direction of the Support Services Director, the counselor is responsible for Duties, Tasks and Support, Personal Wellness, Academic Counseling, Graduation Progress, and External Credits.

Other duties as assigned. This position is a generalist and requires someone with a high degree of accuracy, timeliness, and production across the primary functions above.

Qualifications for School Counselor

  • Hold or be able to acquire, by time of appointment to the position, a Nevada School Counselor license,
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of child development, learning theories, effective counseling techniques, and high school curricula and credit requirement;
  • Demonstrated ability and advanced proficiency in keyboarding and Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Ability to travel frequently to all NSHS sites, including in Reno

Job Responsibilities :

The role entails promptly responding to phone calls, emails, and help tickets within a 24-hour timeframe, demonstrating excellent communication skills.

The candidate will be responsible for efficiently completing assigned tasks in MS Outlook®, maintaining an organized schedule.

Meeting with students individually to provide academic guidance and assess graduation progress is a key aspect of the position.

Ensuring the accuracy of student transcripts and academic records, including the review of out-of-district, state, and country transcripts for registration compliance, is critical to maintaining data integrity.

The position involves ensuring compliance and providing support for student mental health emergencies and referrals. Regular tasks include checking, completing To-Dos, and updating Basecamp projects, as well as logging hours in ActiTime.

Weekly responsibilities encompass emptying the N-Drive, preparing for, and participating in L10 Meetings, assisting with AAD audits and site-based data reviews, and providing BYU student progress updates to site staff.

Monitoring CommonApp and SendEDU portal for weekly due dates, tracking external credit progress, graduation progress, and diploma types are part of the routine.

Monthly responsibilities include submitting a Monthly Schedule Request by the 25th, conducting check-ins with the 2nd counselor, proctoring BYU final exams as requested, updating counselor schedules on Canvas, tracking repeated courses and remedial seniors, ensuring student athletes register for NCAA college eligibility, monitoring AA / 60 credit tracking process, building out-of-district, state, and country transcripts in Infinite Campus, and coordinating University Admissions presentations with Admissions Coordinators.

Additionally, the candidate will support sites by identifying students at risk of not graduating and providing credit deficiency plans.

$75,600 - $87,600 a year

TOTAL COMPENSATION & REWARDS

10 month Contract (08 / 16-06 / 16)

Pay and Benefits : $75,600 - $87,600 Medical, dental, vision, LTD. No state / local income tax and state retirement 100 % paid

no SS deductions) (saving of approx. 6%-12% of net pay).

Two (2)days of PTO per month and federal holidays

Incentives : Annual performance bonus pay structure of up to 7.5% of base salary and annual salary movement based on satisfactory evaluations.
