Amerilab Technologies is a growing and leading US manufacturer in the development, manufacturing, and packaging of effervescent tablets, and effervescent and non-effervescent powders in stick packs and sachets, and we are currently seeking skilled and experienced Scientist II to join our team.

The Scientist II is responsible for the development of new formulations, researching new raw materials, in process and stability testing, coordinating analytical testing and scale-up to production.

This position also provides leadership to Development Scientists and Technicians.

Your responsibilities will include :

  • Develops new product formulations and changes to current formulations, improving client and Amerilab products.
  • Utilizes new technology and innovation to develop new product ideas.
  • Provides regular updates on project progress to R&D Director.
  • Makes recommendations to the R&D Director for creating efficiencies in the product formulation and development process, as well as with the department.
  • Acts as a technical leader for the manufacture of pilot and qualification batches with supporting documentation, batch records, and protocols.
  • Writes validation protocols and assists with validation activities as a technical leader.
  • Performs scale-up of production formulations, recommend procedures, product handling, specialized equipment, etc.
  • Mentors, coaches and develops Scientist and Technician positions.
  • Consistently answers questions from staff within the department and outside of the department as they relate to R&D.
  • Performs process testing to ensure product performance, manufacturability, stability etc.
  • Leads the coordination of required documentation for master formulas, blending and tableting or filling records.
  • Interacts with appropriate departments on new products / projects.
  • Oversees the setting of raw material and product specifications in cooperation with Quality.
  • Writes protocols and summary reports for development activities.
  • Writes / reviews paper formulas for initial cost estimate based on customer requests.
  • Works with Client Services to provide formulation samples to customer with appropriate follow-up.
  • Investigates production problems dealing with formulation, blending and tableting.
  • Keeps accurate lab notebook records.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices.

Safety Protocol :

  • Stop any observed unsafe acts and obey facility safety rules and procedures.
  • Correct or report any observed safety hazards.
  • Support safety policies and programs.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Food Science or related science.
  • 5 years of experience in a product development role within a dietary supplement, pharmaceutical or dry food manufacturing company.
  • 3 years development experience with powders and solid dosage forms. Effervescent experience a plus.

Skills Required :

  • Knowledge of scientific development principles and language.
  • Knowledge of CFR Title 21, Part 111 and NSF regulations.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of GMPs and FDA regulations.
  • Ability to think creatively and demonstrates the use of new technology and innovation in development.
  • Ability to recognize problems and establish a plan for solving the problem.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, self-starter with a demonstrated desire to coach and mentor others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to maintain and develop working relationships across functional areas.
  • Ability to maintain accurate, legible and complete documentation.
  • Computer proficiency and working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
