Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant 3 for the College of Engineering Dean's Office.

This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding. This position will be the welcoming face of the Dean’s Office, and this role offers a unique opportunity to work at the heart of the College, supporting essential operations and collaborating with students, faculty, and staff.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

First point of contact for the Dean’s Office, providing exceptional customer service to students, faculty, and visitors.

Manage travel requests, expense reports, and purchasing card verifications.

Keep the office running smoothly by maintaining supply inventory and handling purchases.

Submit work orders to ensure timely building maintenance and create a comfortable work environment.

Play a key role in organizing exciting college events, meetings, and special programs.

Assist with student employment contracts and provide overall support for daily office operations.

Take on a rewarding leadership role as the co-advisor to the Engineering Leadership Council, working with student club leaders to plan events, coordinate purchases, and promote student engagement.

The ideal candidate will be organized, efficient and eager to contribute to an academic setting.

ALL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN WAIVED FOR THIS POSITION UNTIL DECEMBER 31ST, 2024. Please refer to the link for more information : Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three (3) years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas : maintenance of complex records and files;
  • public / customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms;

and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR

One (1) year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Schedule

The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8 : 00 am to 5 : 00 pm; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.

Compensation Grade

Grade 27 (Entry, Step 01 $22.13 / hr Step 04 $25.00 / hr)

In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity and budgets.

A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
