The Director of the Asian American, Native American, Pacific Islander Serving Institution (AANAPISI) grant whose purpose is to build and expand Shoreline’s capacity to serve Asian American, Native American Pacific Islander (AANAPI), low-income and first-generation students.

Integrated within the College’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility division, the AANAPISI grant supports the Worthy of Achievement, Validation, Empowerment, and Success (WAVES) program in support of student academic success.

NOTE : This position is currently funded through September 30, 2026 with continuation anticipated pending approved grant funding.

Primary responsibilities include the following :

  • Develop, direct, and evaluate programming for the AANAPISI grant in compliance with funding regulations and to ensure assigned goals / outcomes are met.
  • Completion of annual and quarterly reporting within grant, College, and system requirements.
  • Manage a five-year budget of approximately $1.4 million, ensuring adherence to 2 CFR 200 and relevant state statutes.
  • Work with Planning & Institutional Effectiveness department to develop & implement assessment plan.
  • Hire & oversee the work of external consultants needed to perform grant activities, including a grant evaluator.
  • Ensure ongoing College, community, and high school outreach in support of program engagement.
  • Develop / lead faculty representatives assigned in support of programming requirements / goals.
  • Work closely with other College units to ensure effective services, and student retention / success.
  • Utilize appropriate technology, including ctcLink and Starfish, to manage student data.
  • Identify / implement strategies to address barriers to AANAPI student success.
  • Plan / facilitate weekly meetings, quarterly goals, and annual retreats with AANAPISI team.
  • Plan and facilitate monthly meetings with AANAPISI peer mentors, staff, and community.
  • Supervise AANAPISI program specialist, associated advisors, and peer mentors.
  • Lead professional development for faculty on cultural responsiveness to AANAPI students.
  • Manage co-developed space shared with other DEIA units which builds community and placemaking.
  • Foster partnerships with AANAPI community groups in North King County area.
  • Collaborate with International Education and the President’s Office to bolster existing partnerships and develop new ones to support the grant and strategic goals of the College.
  • Foster working partnerships with College leaders, faculty and staff across the institution.
  • Perform other duties as assigned (of a similar nature or level).

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience :

  • Bachelor’s degree in studies specific to the populations served, Social Work OR related discipline.
  • Experience leading community-based organizations and / or support services for specialized populations.
  • Experience managing a multiyear program budget
  • Project management experience, especially complex, long-term projects
  • Three (3) years of progressive administrative / management experience.

Knowledge Of :

  • Best practices in support of low-income and / or first-generation student success.
  • Project management within shared work goals amongst campus colleagues and units.
  • Grant management, compliance, and reporting.
  • Student development theory and learning strategies.
  • Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, enterprise resource systems such as ctcLink and Starfish.
  • Principles of data collection and analysis, including ability to identify and communicate trends.

Skill In :

  • Fostering a climate of equity / belonging through multicultural awareness and responsiveness.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships at all organizational levels.
  • Time management, multitasking, and coordinating outcomes / activities with multiple partners.
  • Interpreting applicable laws, regulations, and policies accurately.
  • Effectively communicating (orally and listening) with individuals at all levels.
  • Handling sensitive situations using sound independent judgment within legal guidelines.
  • Attention to detail in producing information, completing documents, and entering and / or retrieving data accurately in computerized record keeping systems.
  • Developing specialized services and support specific to the populations served.
  • Writing, editing and proofreading materials to ensure clear and concise written materials.
  • Handling difficult and sensitive situations, using sound judgment within legal guidelines.
  • Collaborating with or leading groups of people in various situations including open discussion, training sessions, workgroups, and committees.
  • Effective communicating (in both oral and written English) with the use of appropriate grammar, spelling and punctuation to both technical and non-technical clients.

Conditions of Employment

Physical Work Environment :

The College is currently providing services in a mixed modality of operations (both online and in-person services are offered).

Administrators are assigned to work on campus, noting there may be some opportunities to work remotely based on program or area needs.

If authorized for limited remote work, employees will need to provide their own workspace and internet access, noting the College will provide technical equipment and support for online work needs.

When working on-campus, this position will perform work in a standard office setting, use standard office equipment and physically attend meetings both on and off campus, using the ability to communicate in person or through appropriate means.

This position also works weekends and evenings when appropriate or needed is required.

Terms Of Employment / Salary :

This is a full-time administrative / exempt annually contracted position with initial salary placement determined by the College dependent upon education / experience.

Hiring of this position is contingent upon available funding as determined by the College President.

NOTE : Continuation of this position beyond September 30, 2026 is dependent upon availability of authorized funding as determined by the College.

PART-TIME FACULTY POSITIONS

A part time faculty member becomes eligible for benefits at the beginning of the second consecutive quarter of half time or more employment at one or more Washington state institutions of higher education.

Spring and fall quarters are considered consecutive quarters for benefits eligibility. Half time is determined based on each institution's definition of full time.

A part time faculty member must qualify each quarter they teach to maintain eligibility. Once eligible, part time faculty will be notified of their benefit and retirement options.
