Main Responsibilities for Engineer - Mfg / Process / Industrial II
- The hired candidate will execute directly on the field time-motion studies on processes involved in chemical processing, precision cleaning and inspection of aerospace hardware for various spaceflight systems.
- Perform time studies, make observations and form opinions regarding issues identified, their cause and possible solutions.
- Through time studies, observations, or data analysis, gathers data to form opinions regarding issues identified, their cause and possible solutions.
- Performs analysis aimed at improving operations, determining hourly labor requirements, and developing planning standards.
In addition, assists with analyses that are smaller subcomponents of larger more complex projects.
Provides input into the design for simple studies (and under the direction of the supervisor); plans study schedule, meets and trains hourly data collectors (when applicable) and ensures that data is being collected properly.
Based on study observations, provides input to aid in troubleshooting and problem solving. Manages the data input and organization of time study data collected.
- Develops ad hoc queries and reporting needed for others / users to track and monitor operating performance. Updates and maintains existing databases and spreadsheet tables.
- Gathers and manipulates large quantities of data into a format necessary for analysis.
- Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Work directly at consolidating and validating the industrial engineering models
Additional Responsibilities for Engineer - Mfg / Process / Industrial II
- Lead manufacturing - related projects
- Lead operations improvement - ergonomic & human factor, operations plans, recovery planning, capacity planning and capital planning
- Provide production support - scheduling, theory of constraint, budget & forecast, crew empowerment, defect analysis, core competency definition, make / buy evaluation, benchmarking analysis
- Identify and prioritize process improvement project - lean manufacturing, engineering economic analysis, process mapping, root cause analysis, statistical methods, six sigma and time studies
- Facilitate system integration - Value Stream Analysis, Facility Layouts, Production Systems Design, Manufacturing Process Design, Systems Thinking, Facilities Planning, and Requirements
Basic Qualifications for Engineer - Mfg / Process / Industrial II
- BS in Operations Research, Industrial, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering
- 4+ years of experience working directly with manufacturing in a production environment
- Demonstrated ability in manufacturing and / or facilities planning
- Factory flow, process modeling and simulations experience
- Experience leading continuous improvement and value stream mapping events
- Strong analytic skill set and a high degree of proficiency in data mining
- Exceptional with Excel and manual data analysis
- Excellent Interpersonal Communication Skills
- Self-Starter

Desired Qualifications for Engineer - Mfg / Process / Industrial II :
- Operations Management, Construction Management, MSE and / or MBA
- Manned space flight production experience
- Project Management Certification (PMP)
- Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
- Experience transitioning development to production
- Strong teaming skills
- Experience with manufacturing organizations and / or supply chain
Hands-on experience with materials and manufacturing processes
