Position Summary :
Under the supervision of the Director of Production, the Lighting Supervisor works in association with the lighting design faculty technical director, and other managers in the Department of Theater in the training of lighting design students and the planning, coordination, and supervision of the theatrical lighting program of the Department of Theater.
Overall responsibilities include the design, engineering, installation, use, strike, maintenance, and acquisition of theatrical lighting equipment and supplies for all Department of Theater activities including academic productions, Department events, venue rentals, and contracted projects.
Provide supervision and management services for theater rentals and non-academic projects. Manage and maintain associated lighting equipment and facilities for use by student and guest lighting designers and all users of the Department's performance venues at a level consistent with professional standards.
Train and supervise teaching assistants and technicians.

Qualifications :
Skill in reading, understanding and using light plots, instrument schedules, hook-ups and manufacturers maintenance manuals. (Required)
Skill in the use of electronic test equipment including oscilloscopes, volt meters and continuity testers. (Required)
Knowledge of the use and applications of general lighting equipment including control consoles, dimmers, power distribution equipment, lighting fixtures and intelligent lighting equipment. (Required)
Knowledge of the principles of lighting design and electricity as applied to theatrical lighting systems. (Required)
Ability to effectively communicate the use and applications of lighting equipment to people with various amounts of related previous knowledge. (Required)
Ability to learn the use and applications of new lighting equipment. (Required)
Ability to effectively communicate with production staff, faculty, staff, students and vendors. (Required)
Knowledge of the operation of theatrical productions and inter-relationships between the various disciplines. (Required)
Ability to work as part of a cooperative production team and perform all functions in accordance with the time constraints and multiple demands created by the production schedule (Required)
Ability and willingness to work flexible hours as required by the production schedule. (Required)
Ability to track inventories, maintain equipment documentation and distribute this information to those who need it in a timely manner as required by the production program.
Ability to schedule equipment usage. (Preferred)
Knowledge and skill in the use of ETC, Strand and other computer control consoles. (Required)
Ability to use PC to perform word processing, record keeping functions and cue sheet tracking functions. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Skill in using AutoCAD and / or VectorWorks and Lightwright software to read, generate and modify light plots, instrument schedules and related paperwork. (Preferred)
Ability to work safely at considerable heights such as stage grids and platforms including the use of ladders, lifts and scaffolds. (Required)
Working knowledge of safety precautions necessary when working with ladders, stages, scaffolds lifts and appropriate forms of fall protection. (Required)
Demonstrate pride, professionalism and commitment to excellence. Ability to effectively perform duties and tasks in a no smoking environment. (Required)
