Insurance Agency Accountant Duties and Responsibilities :
Responsible for timely premium accounting and / or commissions processing and
reconciliations. This is inclusive of the entire agency lines of coverages Commercial
Insurance, Personal Insurance, Employee Benefits, and Surety.
- Handling of agency receivables and tracking
- Handling of agency payables and tracking
- Perform general ledger activities and balance sheet reconciliations
- Compile and analyze financial and operational data.
- Prepare various financial reports and regulatory filings.
- Serve as main point-of-contact for banking activities.
- Work closely with agency-hired CPA firm.
- Document and maintain client files in agency management system
- Comply with Agency Procedures & Adhere to agency service standards and timelines
- Utilize agency technology and software applications including agency management systems,
document management systems and workflows
- Perform other duties as assigned by management Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred or regular work experience
- General knowledge of independent agency insurance transactions
- Minimum of 2 years in an accounting role
- Strong analytical skills
- Able to multi-task efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Detail orientated and organized
- Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office software
products.
- Ability to work without close supervision.
- Knowledge of AMS360 preferred
