Job Description

As the Corporate Controller, you will oversee all aspects of financial reporting, accounting operations, and internal controls.

Your role will be instrumental in ensuring accurate and timely financial information, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and supporting decision-making processes within the organization.

This role reports to the CFO and has one direct report.

Responsibilities

• Financial Reporting and Compliance :
• Oversee the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
• Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate the annual audit process and address any audit findings.
• Accounting Operations :
• Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger and payroll functions.
• Develop and implement efficient and effective accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions and maintain supporting documentation.
• Budgeting and Forecasting :
• Monitor actual financial performance against prior year and budgeted targets and assist in providing explanations for variances and identifying corrective actions, if needed.
• Internal Controls and Risk Management :
• Establish and maintain a strong system of internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
• Assess and mitigate financial risks, identify control deficiencies, and implement corrective actions.
• Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations to ensure compliance and recommend necessary adjustments.
• Team Leadership and Development :
• Lead and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance and support to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, professional development, and collaboration within the accounting department.
• Conduct performance evaluations, set goals, and provide constructive feedback to team members.
• Strategic Financial Support :
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial analysis, insights, and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
• Participate in the evaluation of potential investments, mergers, and acquisitions, providing financial due diligence and integration support.
• Additional Responsibilities :
• Handle additional responsibilities and projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
• CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation is required.
• Seven or more years of professional accounting experience with at least 3 years in public accounting.
• Proven experience as a Corporate Controller or a similar senior-level accounting role, preferably within the construction or building industry.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• In-depth understanding of accounting operations, internal controls, and risk management.
• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail skills.
• Strong leadership abilities with the capability to build and motivate high-performing teams.
• A continuous improvement mindset.
• Team player attitude is a must.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong ethics and integrity, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and compliance.
