SUMMARY :
Directs and manages physical plant, grounds, and equipment of the hospital by developing, implementing and administering programs that effectivly utilize personnel and materials
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Effectively manages staff : interviews, hires and trains; provides continuous feedback and evaluates employee performance;
appropriately handles performance issues; delegates work assignments for the greatest amount of efficiency and productivity.
Demonstrates and upholds established standards of behavior, safety, and confidentiality, as well as TMCH and department policies and standards.
Adheres to and supports staff in exhibiting TMCH values of integrity, community, compassion, and dedication. Works collaboratively and supports efforts of other team members.
Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory and building code requirements including Federal, State, Local and industry standards.
Prepares specific budgets, monitors performance, analyzes variances and takes appropriate action.
Develops implements, administers, and modifies programs to maintain the physical plant, grounds, and equipment of the hospital through effective utilization of personnel and materials.
Coordinates planning, scheduling, and implementation of activities to accomplish work in cooperation with other sections of department and / or other hospital departments and services.
Develops estimates of time, labor, material, and cost requirements for projects.
Reviews work in progress; checks and inspects as necessary for conformance to job specifications.
Conducts periodic site inspections to assess compliance with hospital and agency safety regulations; maintains appropriate documentation of inspections and follow up.
Inspects completed jobs and ensures conformance with hospital standards, building and safety codes or engineering specifications.
Develops contingency plans with appropriate procedures and processes and responds to unforeseen circumstances, utilizing planned resources.
Develops a coaching and mentoring relationship with others that is purposefully aimed at developing their independence.
Ensures compliance with organization’s incident reporting system in a timely and accurate manner,
Plans general maintenance activities, setting up annual objectives, and implementing a preventive maintenance program for buildings and equipment.
Plans for and oversees major equipment replacements. Serves as liaison between hospital, Engineering and Architectural firms, and contractor during construction cycle.
Extracts data from sources such as blue prints, engineering orders, reports and specifications.
Performs related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION : Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
EXPERIENCE : Five (5) years of related experience, preferably three (3) in a supervisory or managerial role.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION : None required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
- Knowledge of efficiencies related to plant operations and building maintenance trades.
- Knowledge of all plant regulatory and building code requirements including Federal, State, Local and industry standards.
- Skill in developing plans to provide the most effective and efficient maintenance and operation of physical plants, HVAC, and building heating and cooling systems.
- Skill in the use and application of computer programs such as PC File and Folder, Word, EXCEL, e-mail and attachment capabilities, Outlook, PowerPoint, and in preparing presentation materials for management.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to prepare and write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to calculate figures and compute rate, ratio, and percents and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
