High Voltage Systems & Software Engineer - Automotive

Zero Labs is currently seeking a highly regarded hands-on High Voltage Systems & Software Engineer who will focus on and be responsible for research, programming, coding, and high voltage systems engineering of new vehicle platforms and systems.

Coding and technology development is your passion. This vigorous role will execute current and future vehicle platforms and projects, such as Battery Management Systems, gauge cluster displays, Energy Storage Systems, Electric Motor power curves, and on-board charging systems.

Applicants should be comfortable with and willing to travel as well as report to Zero Labs HQ in Gardenia, California.

Responsibilities

  • Solid understanding of ISO 9001 / 16949 and other US and Global Automotive Standards.
  • Coding experience in C or C++.
  • Knowledge of Ubuntu environment for Linux.
  • Experience in creating user interfaces.
  • Experience in creating gauge cluster displays.
  • Mechatronics knowledge : understanding between mechanical and programming.
  • CANBUS communication.
  • Knowledge of electric motor power curves, power regeneration when braking, and inverters.
  • Experience with Battery Management Systems.
  • Knowledge to design new battery packs, including charging and layout.
  • Knowledge of sensors, including pressure and heat sensors, and their implementation in systems.
  • High Voltage (HV) knowledge to troubleshoot and implement solutions.
  • Low Voltage (LV) knowledge as a Systems Engineer.
  • Research and gather intelligence related to all facets of the local EV / automotive market as needed.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing, etc.).
  • 10+ years of experience in the automotive software and / or EV industry.
  • 7+ years of experience in medium to high volume production manufacturing of automobiles.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong and effective relationships across technical and business teams globally.
  • Extensive experience with Automotive Quality Manufacturing standards.
  • Experience with Software quality, Supply chain quality, Manufacturing quality, and UES quality (including after-sales quality).
  • Proven experience with product delivery of multiple programs.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree or PhD in an Engineering / Computer Science Discipline is desirable.
  • Experience in the power electronics and automotive market.
  • Excellent communication skills and team-working tendencies.
  • A penchant for multi-tasking and self-starting.
