Job Description

Establishes and coordinate with assistance from the clinic administrator the program and activities in order to develop and exercise prescription and activity program for patients, that is consistent with their caloric expenditures and physical abilities.

Responsibilities

1.Maintains an understanding of the limitations of the patient

2.Reviews patients medical history

3.Assesses patients past and current activity level

4.Prescribes an appropriate exercise prescription

5.Designs and implements aerobic classes for patients

6.Motivates patients to exercise

7.Develops group exercise special events

8.Holds lectures on how to get started / increase exercise

9.Promotes financial discounts at local health clubs

10.Designs patient surveys on exercise needs

11.Participates on health team by attending general staff meetings as required

12.Designs / Writes lectures for staff to teach

13.Conducts in-services on exercise as required

Qualifications

  • Masters degree from and approved program in physical education, sports medicine, exercise physiology, exercise science, or physical therapy.
  • Experience in aerobic teaching
  • Experience in working with obesity and associated diseases such as diabetes, arthritis, and apnea.
  • Certification in at least one of the above specialists.
