Schedule Information : Initial field training will be day, evening, and midnight shifts. Once successful field training is completed, shift will be assigned based on the needs of the Department.

While in communications / dispatch is responsible for the safety of the members of the HCPD who conduct field operations and act as a resource for the institution.
Additionally, they serve as a resource via radio and telephone to all other divisions of the College. Patrol functions include the opening and closing of facilities as requested, conducting crime prevention checks of college assets, enforcing parking regulations, and resolving various issues that do not require the services of a Police Officer.
In accomplishing these important tasks, the CSO I may : Use various institutional and government databases for information on police services and investigations, student information, and divisional requests.
Issue College keys to authorized employees, vendors, contractors, or emergency personnel. Maintain parking regulations by issuing parking stickers, verifying information, issuing parking citations, and processing citation payment.
Provide assistance to walk-in traffic with information, directions, complaint resolution, parking ticket appeals, and other general information.
Perform escorts, vehicle jumpstarts, vehicle lockouts, and traffic direction. Maintain computer and security systems functionality, lost and found property, departmental forms, and supplies.
Dispatch appropriate personnel to alarms and assist HCPD officers as directed. Intake and disposal of lost & found items.
Perform other appropriate duties as assigned. Be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to patrol on foot at all facilities.
- Ability to pass a thorough background investigation.
- Proven ability to work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, language groups, and abilities;
- demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities;
establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Medical exam and drug testing
Annual proficiency requirements : Shall maintain certification in LEADS FULL ACCESS Shall maintain certification in AED, CPR and First Aid Desired Qualifications :
- Law enforcement or security experience.
- Associate degree or higher.
