Job Description :
Heavy Duty Truck Body Shop Tech is a technician who specializes in the repair, maintenance, and restoration of the exterior and structural components of heavy-duty trucks.
These technicians handle a wide range of tasks involving the truck's body, including repairing or replacing damaged panels, working on frames, and ensuring that the vehicle meets safety and aesthetic standards.
Key Responsibilities :
- Body Repair : Repair or replace damaged truck bodies, including panels, hoods, doors, fenders, and frames.
- Welding and Fabrication : Use welding and fabrication techniques to restore structural integrity.
- Prepping completed work for Paint : Sanding, Masking and cleaning unit before paint.
- Collision Repair : Fixing trucks that have been in accidents, ensuring both structural and cosmetic damage is corrected.
- Alignment and Safety Checks : Ensuring that repaired vehicles meet all safety standards and that components like the frame are properly aligned.
Required Skills :
- Technical Expertise : Understanding of heavy-duty vehicle construction, materials, and repair techniques.
- Welding and Fabrication : Skilled in welding processes such as MIG, TIG, and arc welding.
- Attention to Detail : Ensuring precise repairs that align with industry safety and aesthetic standards.
- Physical Strength : Ability to handle large and heavy parts and materials.
- Problem Solving : Diagnosing bodywork issues and determining the best repair solutions.
- Knowledge of Tools : Proficiency with specialized tools, such as frame straightening machines, plasma cutters, grinders, and more.
