Summary :
As the Volunteer and Community Relations Coordinator, you will be primarily responsible for volunteer recruitment and program oversight to educate our communities about organ and tissue donation, increase organ and tissue donor registration, and further the life-saving mission and vision of LifeLink Foundation in a way that aligns with organizational values and strategic goals.
You will establish positive interpersonal and community relationships, seek outreach opportunities; facilitate, implement, and evaluate activities, events, and initiatives for various and diverse target audiences, and participate in team, departmental, and organizational initiatives.
Responsibilities :
- Employ creativity and relationship building skills to conceive, develop, and implement plans to identify and recruit volunteers, including volunteers from diverse or multicultural communities, for participation in public education and other mission-focused activities.
- Onboard volunteers, document qualifications and skills, and integrate them into the volunteer management system and the group itself.
- Train volunteers on functions and expectations, subject matter knowledge of organ and tissue donation, organ and tissue donor registration, LifeLink Foundation and divisions, and applicable policies and procedures.
- Evaluate volunteer performance, provide positive and constructive feedback, and implement continued training opportunities.
- Establish and maintain meaningful contact with volunteers, plan meetings, prepare and distribute engaging newsletters, email, approved social media, or volunteer management system communications, and foster an engaging and welcoming volunteer community.
- Identify and coordinate volunteer events and activities, such as public speaking presentations, community or health fairs, partnership opportunities and networking activities to support the LifeLink mission, vision, and goals.
- Schedule and equip volunteers for participation in public education and other mission-focused activities with thorough planning, preparation, and communication.
- Maintain volunteer records, document onboarding, initial and ongoing training, and participation in public education and other mission-focused activities.
- Track, evaluate, and continuously seek to improve volunteer engagement and satisfaction, results and efficacy of volunteer, public education, and other mission-focused activities, increase donor registrations, and positively impact the profile of LifeLink in the community.
- Contribute to the development of volunteer communications and materials, public education materials and messaging.
- Implement programs to recognize and celebrate volunteer contributions.
- Seek out and participate in activities, such as presentations, health and community fairs, networking opportunities, and other events on behalf of LifeLink, both independent of and alongside volunteers, to save and improve as many lives as possible through public education and encouragement of organ and tissue donor registration.
- Participate in other initiatives and duties with a team-oriented spirit in support of our over-arching lifesaving goal.
Requirements :
- Knowledge typically acquired through the completion of a four-year college program, such as human services, public relations and / or marketing, or can demonstrate similar competencies from other courses of studies.
- A creative mindset and can-do attitude.
- Excellent interpersonal, relationship development, and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage details and deadlines of multiple initiatives or activities simultaneously.
- Experience in volunteer coordination or volunteerism.
- Confident presentation skills and able to interact with diverse audiences.
- Working knowledge of software and applications commonly used in business, such as Microsoft Office, as well as those used in public relations or community engagement, such as Canva and various social media platforms.
- Must have a personal, reliable vehicle with good driving record and current state / commonwealth license.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis, with assistance utilizing appropriate equipment.
- Puerto Rico only : must be fully bilingual written and verbal English / Spanish
Working Conditions :
Pleasant, team-oriented working environment. Routinely works customary hours although deadlines, special events, presentations, etc.
may require extended working hours. Some travel required. Routine confidentiality must be practiced.
