The Office of Innovation and Incubation (I&I) provides incubation, management, and oversight of charter, contract, and alternative schools as options for CPS students and families.
I&I also leads the district’s Academic RFP process, which provides school communities across the city with access to highly demanded programs.
I&I oversees approximately 90 Charter and Contract Schools which together educate nearly 55,000 students.
Job Summary :
Reporting to the Director of School Quality Support, the School Quality and Support Coordinator serves a critical role in supporting the three I&I School Quality and Support workstreams : Academic Support, Post Secondary, and Student Transition and Experience.
The School Quality and Support Coordinator will assist with continuous improvement activities, provide academic, postsecondary and student transition support and assist in the development of professional learning to cultivate equitable academic environments that empower educators and maximize the potential for high-quality educational experiences.
The School Quality and Support Coordinator will also lead and coordinate school quality initiatives related to the school improvement process and student voice and will support a variety of I&I initiatives, including charter authorization and renewal.
The School Quality and Support Coordinator will be held accountable for the following responsibilities :
- Lead a charter / contract student voice initiative consisting of regular student-facing convenings that underscore the District’s strategic vision
- Coordinate all school quality and support administrative activities including calendaring, preparing, and leading follow ups of meetings, communicating with CPS and school leadership teams, event project planning, memos, and presentations
- Create, draft, and update School Quality and Support process documentation
- Create new School Quality and Support trackers and maintain and update existing trackers
- Assist with strategic initiatives, convergence, and projects with various academic and support departments, and cross-collaborating with I&I teams
- Participate in academic support school site visits and aggregate qualitative school visit data into concise feedback reports
- Assist with the analysis, review, monitoring and distribution of academic data and accountability ratings, to include identifying high level data trends and areas of growth
- Support student transition activities to including assisting with enrollment issues and helping to connect students with appropriate interventions, resources, and supports
- Support and lead aspects of family and student-facing engagement related to school closure
- Assist in the coordination of post secondary activities for students including Collective Impact Visits and other student-facing early college and career engagement activities
- Other duties as assigned
In order to be successful and achieve the above responsibilities, the School Quality and Support Coordinator must possess the following qualifications :
Education Required :
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Experience Required :
Minimum of three (3) years of professional administrative and project support experience in a school district or education-related agency;
charter / contract school experience preferred
Experience supporting school leadership, and / or school improvement preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
- Ability to support multiple priorities and effectively organize tasks
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and diplomacy skills
- Strong communication skills (speaking - including presentations - listening, and writing), including developing external communication documents for a wide range of audiences and effectively addressing stakeholder concerns and inquiries
- Ability to receive, internalize data, and respond to feedback from department leadership, manager, colleagues, and external partners for continuous improvement
- Ability to help define problems, analyze data, and outline valid conclusions and action steps
- Knowledgeable of the iterative nature of continuous improvement
Conditions of Employment
As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to :
Establish / Maintain Chicago Residency - Employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of their CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district.
The Chicago residency requirement does not apply to temporary / part-time positions, however, all CPS employees must be residents of Illinois.
Be Fully Vaccinated Against COVID-19 - Unless approved for a medical or religious exemption, all employees are required to be up-to-date on COVID-19 vaccinations, including boosters, and to submit proof of vaccination to the district within 30 days of hire.
Up-to-date on vaccination is defined as being at least two weeks past all primary vaccine doses and any applicable boosters.
