Bernstein Shur is a highly respected regional law firm with 220+ team members and a strong brand presence in Maine, New Hampshire, and beyond.

The firm is moving into our next phase of organizational development with a new strategic plan, a new CEO, and the addition of a Chief People Officer position.

This strategic Human Resources leader is an essential position to achieving our strategic plan. The ideal candidate is motivated to take all of what they have learned in their fulfilling career to build a world-class HR function at one of the top law firms in the region.

Our new Chief People Officer will have the support to cement our people practices foundation and build a strategic talent planning and business partnering function.

This position reports to the CEO and is a member of our Administrative Leadership team.

What’s needed for success :

You have 15-20 years of HR experience, with at least ten years leading an HR function and team

in a 200+ people, multi-location organization. You have managed a team of direct reports, as well as coached managers.

You have created and implemented a successful talent plan a number of times over your career.

You are a fantastic translator of business strategy and the talent implications of a business strategy.

You are masterful at change management and have tons of experience making thoughtful, successful proposals to leadership teams.

You are unfailingly calm and level-headed in all types of situations.

You model the importance of technology by digging into tech solutions in your work and life. You enjoy partnering with technology leaders to determine scalable tech-enabled solutions.

You have a deep customer service orientation, while at the same time knowing when and how to

advocate clearly for yourself and others.

You are a strategic thinker that is also motivated by rolling up your sleeves to get the work done.

You are curious and enjoy learning about how businesses operate. You have a genuine interest in

the law firm industry and the unique elements of professional service organizations.

You prioritize strong relationships, while at the same time you are results oriented. You know relationships and results go hand-in-hand.

We have an excellent overall package that we will customize based on your needs. This position is located in Portland, Maine, with travel to NH as needed.

Relocation is happily offered.
