Overview
The Part Time Benefits Assistant will assist the Benefits Department with the day-to-day administration of health and welfare benefits, 401(k) and pension.
Responsibilities
- Assists with administering the Company’s health and welfare, 401(k) and pension plans. Answers questions and resolves problems as needed
- Tracks health and welfare and benefit enrollments of newly eligible employees
- Assists with the COBRA administration
- Assists with monitoring retiree death audits; updates records and notifies TPAs as necessary.
- Researches missing participants for the retirement savings and pension plans. Conducts addresses searches as needed.
- Creates and coordinates distribution of required communications regarding health and welfare and 401(k) plans.
- Backs up the Human Resources Assistant with payroll processing and other daily responsibilities
Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Two (2) to four (4) years’ experience working in Human Resources benefits preferred but not required.
- General knowledge of Health and Welfare plans, and 401(k) and pension regulations preferred
- General knowledge of HR practices and procedures preferred
- Proficiency with various software applications including Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Must have ability to learn additional software programs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with attention to conveying accurate and appropriate information
- Must use good judgment when communicating with employees and customers, be sensitive, and able to maintain discretion and confidentiality
