Associate Director FP&A, Manufacturing Finance

The Associate Director, FP&A is a new role in a fast-growing organization located in the manufacturing site in Philadelphia (PA).

This Associate Director, FP&A will be responsible for building business partner relationships with the department leads at the site, including Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Quality.

This role will be viewed as a subject matter expert (SME) for all financial planning.

The Associate Director, FP&A will lead all aspects of FP&A at the manufacturing site, providing financial leadership, insights, planning and analysis to the site.

The AD, FP&A will establish working relationships and methodologies with key stakeholders at the site, execute on various planning cycles (Budget / Forecast / LRP), understanding personnel, manufacturing drivers, cost of goods, inventory, operating expenses and compiling information into financial plans.

A successful candidate will be responsible for surfacing and presenting key business insights and recommendations to finance and senior business leadership.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

The FP&A team is in a growth mode, requiring a start-up mentality and an ability to work collaboratively to support all areas of Finance.

  • Business partner providing FP&A leadership to the manufacturing site
  • Drive the annual budgeting and forecasting planning process for the manufacturing function
  • Provide analysis and insights in support of manufacturing plant business decision making
  • Manage and explain site P&L, developing an in-depth understanding of key business drivers to incorporate into monthly commentaries, insights and recommendations
  • Deliver accurate and timely monthly / quarterly business reporting packages and dashboards, interpret financial information, and communicate to the management team.

Deep insight into operating costs, personal, capex, inventory, reserves, obsolescence

  • Pull together detailed actuals by Capital Project (POs / Invoices) to help Project Owners review status of their projects and track progress against budget
  • Develop KPIs aligned with site leadership, focused on performance drivers and key issues, risks and business drivers
  • Partner with Corporate Finance and the site accounting team during month / quarter-end Close process
  • Implement Budget controls and tracking mechanism to ensure operational controls and financial metrics for manufacturing and capital
  • Participate in the implementation and ongoing utilization of the FP&A financial system(s)
  • Lead scenario modeling and what-if analyses to support leadership decision-making
  • Perform ad hoc analytics as required
  • Create and sustain a culture of financial accountability and decision making built on solid financial understanding and analysis

  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Required Education, Skills, and Knowledge

  • BA degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or equivalent; MBA a plus.
  • 10+ years of progressively complex roles in a financial function with financial planning and analysis experience / understanding;

supply chain / manufacturing experience a plus.

  • Strong communication and relationship building skills, with the ability to interpret and summarize data to aid management in achieving operational goals.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, project management, and financial modeling abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, comfortable with ambiguity, work well under pressure and adapt quickly to change.
  • Willingness and curiosity to take deep dives into the status quo and drive effective changes that scale, even or especially if it means establishing new processes or what hasn’t been done before.
  • Ability to partner cross-functionally, through strong relationship building, influencing, negotiating and communication skills, with all levels of management.

Physical Demands and Activities Required

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time.

  • Must have visual acuity to perform activities such as : preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer screen, and extensive reading.

ability to handle work-related stress; ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously; and ability to meet deadlines

Work Environment

This job works in a professional office environment and a manufacturing lab setting. Potential exposure to latex, bleach, loud noise, lab equipment hazards, strong odors, and chemical / biochemical is possible.

Requires operating standard office equipment and keyboards.
