Solar Crew Lead (Residential)
SOLAR CREW LEAD
Position Description :
The Solar Installer participates in all aspects of photovoltaic system installation and services residential and commercial PV systems.
The crew lead is responsible for installing the array(s) to specification, system documentation (photos and inverter maps), and testing / commissioning the system.
The crew lead may work closely with the electrician while overseeing the panel installation.
Hours : Mon-Thurs 7am - 5pm.
Remote Work : Not permitted
Compensation : Hourly
Immediate Supervisor : Residential Operations Manager
Major areas of responsibility include but are not limited to :
Install solar electric systems from start to finish
Crew safety
Maintain vehicle and warehouse organization
Assist electricians and other crew members as necessary
Communicate job status daily (EOD) with Project manager
Project Commissioning and quality assurance
Preps project for hoists and manages the delivery of products to array location(s)
Specific Responsibilities of the Job :
Install solar electric systems from start to finish
Follow plans, designs and equipment specifications to layout PV racking on rooftops or other surfaces
Leads the crew by delegating tasks and enforcing installation best practices
Adhere to project designs, electrical line diagrams and equipment specifications to install high-quality PV systems and ensure code compliance
Adhere to industry fall protection standards and company safety programs
Complete PV work orders and required paperwork as necessary
Work under the supervision of onsite electricians and project manager
Maintain vehicle and warehouse organization
Crew leads are assigned a van and are responsible for the organization and cleanliness of van
Responsible for the stock of basic materials, safety gear and tools on designated van
Notify project manager of low stock in warehouse
Assist electricians and other crew members as necessary
Maintain current electrical trainee card
Assist electricians as needed
The entire crew must complete the job as a whole
Communicate job status daily (EOD) with project manager
Crew Lead must be available and responsive all day
Noon check-in may be required for 1) projected project completion day / time 2) necessary components needed to finish the job
End of day check in
Discuss project status with homeowner as necessary
Must be accessible by phone at all times
Project Commissioning and Quality Assurance
Completion of 1) commissioning checklist 2) job photos 3) inverter / optimizer / string map
Job Requirements
2+ years of PV installation experience
Demonstrated ability to work alone and with others as part of a team
Ability to work on rooftops, ladders, attics, crawlspaces and confined spaces safely
Demonstrated ability to pick up and carry heavy objects
Highly motivated, self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills
Valid WA state drivers license and clean driving record
General knowledge of home construction, building materials, workplace safety, fall protection, OSHA safety standards, etc.
OSHA 10
Rigging Certification (commercial only)
Telehandler Reach Training (commercial only)
