Performs collection duties including control of late loan and credit accounts, and potentially delinquent or delinquent accounts.
Works with late or delinquent borrowers to reach a suitable arrangement to restore account to current status. Utilizes effective human relation skills and persuasion to calm unhappy members and resolve negative situations.

Position Responsibilities
Responsible for collection duties on potentially delinquent or late accounts. Works with late or delinquent borrowers to reach a suitable arrangement to restore account to current status and avoid Credit Union losses.
Discusses possible financial arrangements, informs members of possible legal action and suggest financial counseling.
- Utilizes effective human relation skills and persuasion to calm unhappy members and resolve negative situations.
- Embeds diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and accessibility (DEIBA) into your daily workflow.
- Gathers information regarding delinquent loan activity.
- Performs clerical duties for department as needed.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of and adheres to the requirements of all related policies and procedures, laws, rules and regulations for collections, including applicable FCU guidelines, NCUA policies and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
- Maintains an up-to-date knowledge on all credit union products and services.
- As appropriate, explain and cross-sell other credit union services.
- Models a high level of member service and professional demeanor.
- Responsible for uploading and tracking of insurance regarding C.P.I.
- Assumes responsibility for other duties as required or assigned.
Desired Qualifications
- High School diploma, or equivalent
- 0 2 years of similar or related experience in general collections, lending and / or financial operations.
- Knowledge of collection practices and federal / state collection regulations
- Good verbal communication skills with ability to calm and persuade unhappy members
- Good negotiation skills
- Ability to perform basic math calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages). Knowledge of basic accounting and bookkeeping principles
- Ability to use related computer software, Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) products and business equipment, including adding machine, copy machine, coin and money counting machines
- Flexibility is necessary as an employee’s job responsibilities may change at any time during employment.
Position Working Conditions
- The work environment is an office setting
- Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands and / or fingers
- Frequently required to sit and stand for longer periods of time
- Stressful, high intensity situations often occur
Salary Range : $20.37 - 25.46 / hr
