This position requires being onsite in our Traffic Control Room in Alexandria 5 days a week. Please note this role will require overnight shifts, either between 10pm - 6am or 8pm - 4am.

About the role :
We're seeking a Traffic Control Room Officer (TCRO) to monitor the flow of the traffic and respond quickly in the event of incidents.
You'll join an innovative team, who manage a variety of operations, whether it's redirecting traffic flow, coordinating response teams, or relaying critical information to keep our roads safe.

Day-to-day, you will :
- Work with different control systems to monitor and manage traffic in dedicated lanes and on reversible roadways.
- Gain familiarity with a variety of technologies that we use, such as Dynamic Message Signs, Lane Use Management Systems, CCTV and Automatic Incident Detection Systems that control over 200 cameras.
- Work collaboratively with field staff, First Responders and your team, and act swiftly to respond to incidents to contain the event and keep everyone safe.
- Create Incident Management and Traffic Management plans to ensure our roads run more efficiently and safely when things don't go as planned.
- Consider ways to improve our processes for traffic management and make recommendations.
- Compile real time information on road conditions for our stakeholders, the media and our customers, so that they maintain a trust in our brand.
- Understand the importance of rigorous knowledge of traffic management policies, practices and procedures, including operational systems.
This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferable skills and experiences, including :
- Familiarity with Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) and establishing temporary traffic control on streets and highways to create a work zone.
- Experience monitoring environments and Operations Centers.
- Interest in road network, traffic and incident management in general.
- Demonstrated knowledge of various systems, with a curiosity for learning new technology, systems and computers.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a desire to innovate and present unique solutions.
- A commitment to resilience and efficiency, showing confidence and professionalism no matter how challenging the situation.
- Strong organization skills.
- Experience with multi-tasking, coupled with efficiency and decisiveness to prioritize tasks on an ongoing basis.
- Experience writing reports, focusing on important details to include to ensure smooth operations.
- Experience with shift-work, including exposure to working in a 24 / 7 environment, given our Operations Center is open 24 / 7.
- A license to drive.
