On Election Day, young people will be the largest and most diverse group of potential voters, with distinct values and ideas.
That means, young people can make a huge impact on this Election if they all turn out and vote.
We have momentum. In 2018 we saw a record increase in youth voter turnout. We have also seen candidates running for office talking more about issues that young people care about.
But to keep the issues that young people care about at the forefront of our society, we need to help register, educate, and mobilize them to participate in the upcoming Election.
That’s why the Student PIRGs is running the New Voters Project, our non-partisan voter registration and get-out-the-vote campaign on college campuses across the country in Fall 2020.
We’re hiring an Administrative Assistant to help manage the behind-the-scenes operations to make our voter registration drives successful.
As the Administrative Assistant with the Student PIRGs’ New Voters Project, your responsibilities will include :
- Establishing and managing systems for tracking voter registration forms from on-campus voter registration drives across the country
- Managing quality control for voter registration drives to ensure accuracy of our voter registration efforts
- Training staff on compliance and administrative processes
- Analyzing data to identify trends and improve on-the-ground voter registration and get-out-the-vote efforts
- Helping to identify and hire organizers for our efforts across the country
The ideal candidate has a strong attention to detail, solid computer skills, experience working with information databases, and some experience with grassroots organizing and an interest in working on a large, non-partisan youth voter mobilization project.
Duration :
This position is a short-term commitment and will begin in July or August 2020 and continue through December 2020. There may be an opportunity to continue as an administrative assistant into 2021 as well.
The target annual compensation for this position is between $28,000-$35,000 depending on location and relevant experience.
The Student PIRGs offer a competitive benefits package. We also offer an excellent training program and opportunities for advancement.
Locations :
The ideal candidate can work in Boston, but other cities will also be considered.
For almost fifty years, we’ve built a legacy of recruiting, training, and inspiring young people to engage in democracy. We believe that for our democracy to work, young people need to be engaged.
And the first step to engaging young people is exercising their voice at the polls. The New Voters Project is the largest non-partisan, on-the-ground young voter mobilization effort in the nation.
Since 1984, we have helped to register more than 2 million young voters and made over one million personalized get-out-the-vote contacts.
Each of the groups that partner with the Student PIRGs is an equal opportunity employer.
