Position DescriptionThe communications manager, under the supervision of the USCP Communications Director, assists in the planning, development and execution of Sorghum Checkoff communications, both internal and external.
They coordinate and support the activities of the Information, Communication and Education (ICE) department and collaborate strategically and tactically with other program areas within the organization.
Additionally, the communications manager leads and oversees specific communication projects related to the strategic communications plan.
ResponsibilitiesAssist in developing, implementing, and ensuring consistent messaging from the Sorghum Checkoff across all program areas.
This involves maintaining writing, layout and branding styles, as well as consistency in print, digital and written communication materials.
Additionally, monitor news media for updates regarding the sorghum industry and the organization.Craft the social media strategy for Sorghum Checkoff and spearhead its execution, encompassing content creation for various platforms such as Meta, X, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
Employ customized and focused approaches tailored to each platform. Additionally, oversee interactions with comments and feedback, while enhancing the organization's reach.
Collaborate with external partners to amplify the social media reach through paid programs, enhancing the organization's online presence and engagement.
Ensure the upkeep of and its affiliated website(s) by regularly updating content, conducting usability audits, and optimizing for search engines.
Utilize WordPress software for efficient management.Collaborate with the Communications Director, program directors, and program staff across the organization to brainstorm and implement essential communication projects for marketing areas, covering events, talking points, materials, coordination, and overall communications strategy.
Additionally, ensure consistent booth and trade show messaging by coordinating with program staff and providing supporting documents for industry segments.
Manage the creation of timely and pertinent content for quarterly and monthly e-newsletters targeting both producers and consumers, while also overseeing subscriptions and readership metrics.
Coordinate, record and produce podcasts for publishing to Libsyn and the Sorghum Checkoff website.QualificationsThis position requires a diverse set of communication skills to execute the strategic communications objectives and goals of the Sorghum Checkoff.
