Position Summary
Join our team as a recent college graduate with a degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, and take on a role focused on the design of Overhead Contact Systems (OCS) for rail and transportation projects.
An Overhead Contact Systems use an overhead wire to supply electricity to mass transit vehicles such as light rail trains and streetcars.
As a junior team member, you will contribute to the design of OCS layout, wire tensions, and structures for various transportation systems.
Collaborate closely with experienced engineers to gain insights into systems integration and design. Your responsibilities will include supporting the preparation of design reports and documents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the design of OCS layout, wire tensions, foundations, and structures for light rail, commuter rail, streetcar with pantograph, and electrified buses with trolley poles.
- Collaborate with senior engineers for systems integration and design.
- Support the preparation of design reports and development of documents, including specifications, drawings, and cost estimates.
- Participate in the review of project submittals and assist with responses to requests for information from contractors.
- Provide assistance in installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Contribute to the management of OCS projects under supervision.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering; relevant coursework and projects during college are considered.
- Eagerness to learn and develop skills in OCS systems design, covering both DC rail (600 to 1500 volt) and AC systems (12 to 25 kilovolt).
- Exposure to AutoCAD or MicroStation is a plus.
- Interest in obtaining a professional engineer’s license or engineer-in-training certificate.
- Enthusiasm for the transit / transportation industry.
- Willingness to participate in field testing of OCS systems.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
