Apply now. 2nd Shift (4 : 00 pm to 2 : 00 am; M-F) Starting Wage $25.24 / hr + $1 shift differential The Slitter / Decoiler Operator is an Individual Contributor responsible for the setup and operation of various pieces of equipment, including a Slitter and Decoiler machine, to level, edge trim and cut-to-length steel sheets from coil. Essential Functions Responsible for programming and operating the PLC controlled leveling and shearing machines Responsible for calibration and set-up of equipment Observe operation and periodically verify conformance of machined work to process sheet, specifications and blueprint data Unband steel coil to feed through the cut-to-length machine Load steel coil via the coil cart Maintain the cleanliness of work area including all equipment and machinery Use overhead crane, forklift and / or conveyor to load / unload material Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work both in a non-temperature-controlled environment and outdoors Other duties as required and / or assigned Important Details about the Role Setup, operate, and perform general maintenance of equipment without difficulty Make mathematical calculations in preparing product or setting up the machinery Read and decipher blueprints and flat sheets without assistance The employee must maintain a safe and productive work environment producing a quality product which is shipped complete and on time to satisfy the needs of the customer The employee has a direct impact on safety, quality, productivity, and delivery This position reports to the Production Supervisor Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities) The ability to calculate simple mathematics and interpret shop drawings The ability to operate overhead cranes, forklifts and basic welding equipment The ability to read a tape measure The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues The ability to work in a team environment with a diverse group of people The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions The ability to meet production, safety, and quality standards in a high-paced working environment The ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with most frequent lift up to 20 pounds Wear required personal protective equipment and follow facility safety regulations Maintain a safe and productive working environment Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications High School Diploma or GED equivalent 1 year of previous experience in a heavy manufacturing setting 1 year of previous experience with overhead crane operations The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner Must have a high awareness for safety at all times.
