POSITION : Assistant Professor. This is a nine-month tenure-track position in the Department of Special Education, Rehabilitation, and Counseling beginning in August 2025.

This faculty will be hired to support our Clinical Mental Health Counseling master’s program, with the expectation that the candidate will contribute to the other programs in Counselor Education.

however, the search will remain open until the position is filled. The Department of Special Education, Rehabilitation, and Counseling is housed in the College of Education.

The Counselor Education Program includes four CACREP accredited programs, which include master’s programs in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling, School Counseling, and a doctoral program in Counselor Education.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES Ø Engage in rigorous research resulting in scholarly publications, preferably peer-reviewed journal articles in prestigious outletsØ Seek external funding for research activitiesØ Teach courses in the Clinical Mental Health specialization area and other foundation courses in counselor education, including teaching and supervision experiences in clinical practice courses (practicum and internship)Ø Advise and mentor graduate studentsØ Contribute to the Counselor Education program’s mission to integrate advocacy, social justice, cultural competence, and ethical practice into the preparation of counseling professionalsØ Demonstrate engagement in professional service and leadership in counseling and community organizations Ø Provide institutional service as assigned by the department head and engage in professional service within the discipline Auburn University is an Affirmative Action / Equal Opportunity Employer.

Minimum Qualifications Ø Earned doctoral degree in Counselor Education from a CACREP accredited university at the time employment begins

Ø Earned master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from a CACREP accredited program

Ø Two years of clinical and supervision experience

Ø Evidence of counseling, supervision, and teaching experience in counselor education

Ø Evidence of scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals and the ability to maintain a record of high-quality research and scholarship

Ø Evidence of the ability to engage in professional service, leadership, and advocacy

Ø Evidence of the ability to engage in the integration of advocacy, social justice, cultural competence, and ethical practice into the preparation of counseling professionals

Ø Commitment to the values and priorities of the College of Education (; )Ø Evidence of extramural support or of potential to be successful in securing extramural support

Ø Must hold or be eligible for certification and licensure in the State of Alabama Desired Qualifications

Ø Administrative and professional experiences related to clinical mental health counseling

Ø Experience in counselor education curriculum evaluation and program development

Ø Experience teaching in traditional and online instructional methods

Ø Experience or familiarity with the CACREP accreditation process

Ø Licensure for supervision or eligible for licensure for supervision is highly desired

Ø Grant writing experience

Ø Research focus is open, but strong consideration will be given to candidates whose research focus integrates clinical mental health counseling with trauma-informed care, social justice, and advocacy
