Summary :
Billing : Compiles and documents client attendance and level of treatment information for billing. Communicates with all levels of staff to determine level of treatment for daily client attendance in preparation of billing processes.
Coordinates account collection activities related to denials, appeals, and follow-ups. Must have medical billing experience.
Payroll : Maintaining payroll systems and processing paychecks according to schedule and in the correct amount. Their duties include consolidating timesheet information and entering data into payroll databases, calculating paycheck amounts and distributing funds to employee accounts.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
Billing
- Complies details of daily bed counts for residential programs and summarizes client occupancy in Excel files for statistical analyses and billing support.
- Communicates with Admissions & Utilization Review, as well as Program Directors or Counselors to resolve treatment episode, certification, and enrollment issues.
- Monitors level of treatment to ensure appropriate billings are processed.
- Prepares and submits client billings to funding sources in a timely manner and uses multiple media, i.e., EDI transmissions, internet-based transmissions, and hard-copy claims, to bill payors.
- Research claim denials and initiates interaction with payors to determine the causes of and resolutions to denials and follows up same to ensure collection through use of the EHR.
- Coordinates transactional data with Controller for final review.
- Recommends, modifies, documents and coordinates implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures with respect to client billings and collections.
- Must be very experienced with private insurance and Medicaid billing practices.
Payroll
- Ensure all new employees are correctly on-boarding into the HRIS for payroll and benefits.
- Checking timesheets for accuracy and entering data into the HRIS database.
- Handling direct deposit requests and data.
- Processing paper checks for distribution.
- Acquiring all necessary approvals / signatures to distribute payroll.
- Processing wage garnishments.
- Making adjustments in pay for raises, bonuses and commission.
- Assist CFO and / or CHRO in other duties as assigned.
- Ensures services delivered as in line with the Nexus Mission and Values.

Competencies :
- Advanced knowledge of medical billing practices.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Familiarity with medical insurance billing and collection procedures.
- Exceptional mathematical and calculation skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Knowledge of different types of accounting and payroll software
- Knowledge of laws regarding payroll, garnishments and benefits distribution
- Multitasking abilities
- Good research and analysis skills

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE :
High school graduate / GED.
Minimum 3 years payroll administration and billing / coding experience.
Must have medical billing experience. Only candidates with medical billing experience will be considered for the position.
LANGUAGE SKILLS :
Ability to read and interpret documents, procedure manuals, etc.
Ability to write and speak effectively.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS :
Ability to calculate figures, amounts, proportions, and percentages.
REASONING ABILITY :
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw, and document valid conclusions.
Excellent problem-solving skills, including ability to anticipate problems and use judgement appropriately to plan solutions.

DATABASE EXPERIENCE :
Demonstratable knowledge base and experience with accounting, EHR, and HRIS software required; experience with Welligent and ADP strongly preferred.
Strong digital literacy, with proficiency in MS Office applications.
