As a Graphic Communications Consultant, you will be responsible for MCW's visual brand identity, images, and the creation of design across institutional channels to support and enhance institutional strategic priorities and communications initiatives, in collaboration with OOC members, MCW leadership and communications partners across the institution.
Responsibilities :
- Develops and implements designs and creative executions that support communications strategies, campaigns, and high-level plans for MCW priority initiatives and projects.
- Collaborates as part of an integrated team, as well as independently, with leaders to understand their priorities and problems, and develops creative approaches and multi-channel design solutions to address them.
- Develops creative approaches and design deliverables that align with communications and creative strategy, and are appropriate for project needs, channel formats and execution parameters.
- Serves as design lead on integrated project teams for institutional projects and initiatives.
- Collaborates with peers and institutional partners to align creative strategy and approaches with communications approaches and messaging.
Advises institutional communications partners on brand guidelines and design execution for multiple channels; adapts design planning and implementation to meet emerging institutional needs.
Project manages and collaborates on the development of budgets, timelines and workflow related to design and photography aspects of projects.
Recommends contract photographers, designers and print vendors as needed. Schedules time and art directs contract photographers.
- Mentors others who develop photos, artwork or layouts for MCW.
- Keeps up with innovations and trends in visual design and software used for production; makes recommendations as needed.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Knowledge - Skills - Abilities
- Strong visual design, typography and composition skills to creatively interpret written information with appropriate visual solutions
- Experience creating graphics, interactive design elements, motion graphics, and audio / visual production.
- Proficiency in computer software programs including Microsoft Office, Web browsers, Proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop and other Adobe Creative Suite applications, and other applications in a networked Windows environment required.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with leaders, faculty, staff, and administration (internally) and donors, volunteers, alumni, patients, vendors, and community leaders (externally).
- Excellent organizational, time and project management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize assignments, handle multiple projects and details simultaneously, and meet strict deadlines
- Ability to work independently

Minimum Qualifications :
Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis.
Minimum education : Bachelor's degree in graphic design, journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field
Minimum experience : 5 years
Preferred Qualifications :
Preferred education : Master's degree in graphic design, journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field
Preferred experience : Integrated graphic design / production / communications; Demonstrated experience with graphic design that supports strategic planning and program management.
Experience with both print and digital graphics and the programs used for each... Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator.
