WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Hydrotechnical Engineer for our Wexford, PA office. Be involved in projects with our Geotechnical / Geohazard Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.
Your Impact
Provide hydrotechnical engineering solutions including both assessment and mitigation design. Assessment may include hydrologic, hydraulic, fluvial geomorphic, and sediment transport analyses.
Mitigation design will include controlling scour and lateral migration through technical engineering design for the stream, riverine, and floodplain environment.
- Production and senior review of hydrology and hydraulic numerical and analytical modeling using spreadsheet-based tools, and / or software such as 1D HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS programs, or other 2D hydrodynamic modeling tools.
- Civil layout, grading, and / or drainage design.
- Production and senior review of construction documents including design drawings and specifications.
- Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
- Determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits.
- Work as an individual or as part of a cross-functional team to execute project work.
- Prepare and review technical reports and presentations for clients, regulators, and other stakeholders.
- Provide development and scoping of medium- and large-sized projects.
- Mentor and direct junior staff in design activities.
- Contribute to the development and execution of business plans related to the growth of our midstream oil and gas services;
provide market and industry insight and facilitate development of marketing strategies.
- Serve as project manager for pipeline hydrotechnical analysis and design projects.
- Travel to perform site visits, meet with clients and monitor construction as required.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Hydrotechnical Engineering.
- 10+ years of relevant post education experience in civil and water engineering.
- Professional Engineer certification.
- Ability to direct others in the field such as subcontractors and provide construction quality assurance.
- Effective communication (verbally and written) skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
- Proficient at software such as Autodesk Civil3D, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical work week.
- Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
- This role is subject to a client-mandated drug / alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug / alcohol tests.

Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Hydrotechnical Engineering.
- Experience in midstream pipeline hydrotechnical work.
- 10-Hour OSHA Construction Safety Training (OSHA 29 CFR 1926).
- Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training.
