Responsibilities
Summary
The Recovery Reentry Residential Housing (RRH) Placement Coordinator assists participants with transitional programming to include mental health, transitional housing and general counseling needs while developing and coordinating reentry programs to ensure continuity of care for the participant and facilitate services for participants with housing needs.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Recovery Reentry Residential Housing Placement Coordinator identifies, organizes, maintains and disseminates housing information conducive to long term recovery, and stable housing (e.
g. shared, supportive, subsidized, clean and sober, moderate income housing, etc.).
- Locates market-rate housing opportunities such as Craigslist and / or other sources.
- The Recovery Reentry Residential Housing Placement Coordinator mentors the participant in disclosing appropriate information regarding past convictions and / or parole status when attempting to secure housing.
- Creates housing and placement plans with each participant based on his / her goals and needs related to housing.
- The Recovery Reentry Residential Housing Placement Coordinator provides referrals to community housing and related resources.
- Follows up with the participant regarding housing applications submittals and other aspects of their search.
- The Recovery Reentry Residential Housing Placement Coordinator ensures participants adhere to all rules and requirements of Transitional House.
- Prepares for and facilitates weekly housing meetings to share current opportunities to help participants complete housing applications and provide information identifying practices of a good tenant.
- The Recovery Reentry Residential Housing Placement Coordinator oversees transitional housing in the community to ensure the facilities are in compliance contract requirements.
- Complies with work rules and policies.
- The Recovery Reentry Residential Housing Placement Coordinator complies with facility safety rules and takes appropriate corrective action to ensure work is performed in a safe manner.
- Communicates effectively with all levels of staff in a manner that promotes a team spirit and a sense of cooperation.
- May perform all duties of Case Manager.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
An Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree from a granting institution accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), or equivalent, and a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a RRH House Manager or similar position;
OR a high school diploma, or equivalent and a minimum of four (4) years of experience as a RRH House Manager or similar position.
- Knowledge of current management techniques.
- Familiar with the correctional system and current correctional policies.
- Ability to conduct individual counseling sessions and facilitate small groups, and interface with outside agencies.
- Ability to write clear concise reports in English using correct grammar.
- Must be able to react quickly and appropriately in an emergency situation.
- Bilingual in English / Spanish preferred, but not mandatory.
- Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department
