Ocean Reef Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Japanese Languages Teacher to join their friendly team.

The successful applicant should have an excellent knowledge of Japanese Languages curriculum. They will demonstrate expertise in planning and teaching Japanese, providing an engaging learning environment where students are inspired and motivated to learn.

The successful applicant will ideally have effective interpersonal skills and can foster positive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders including students, staff, families and community members.

They should engage in reflective practice, have a strong evidence-based teaching approach and should be committed to whole-school pedagogical approaches.

Effective classroom management, the ability to differentiate curriculum to cater for individual student needs and promote an environment of active and positive learning are also a strong focus for the position.

The successful applicant will ideally support the implementation of the school business plan, work and teach in a team environment, and be committed to whole school approaches and initiatives.

Ideally, they will actively participate in professional learning opportunities and continually reflect on your classroom practice to sustain a culture of high-quality teaching and ongoing improvement.

  • Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • Complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
