We are currently seeking a Surveying Graduate - Surveyor 1 (New Grad) in our in our Bozeman office As a Surveying Graduate - Surveyor 1 (New Grad) you will be responsible for providing surveying duties, applyingknowledge of principles, and practices in areas of land surveying related fields.
The SurveyingGraduate will provide surveying assistance under leadership from a Survey Coordinator or LandSurveyor. The Surveying Graduate will be responsible for calculations and surveying judgment basedon surveying experience, documented practices, systems, and examples which will be reviewed by aSurvey Coordinator or Land Surveyor.
Principal Responsibilities
- Perform survey duties associated with construction stakeout and boundary, topographic, and asbuilt surveys
- Research historic maps, land records, previous surveys, and land title reports
- Assist with boundary reductions and mapping / topographic field reductions in CAD / surveysoftware
- Download, maintain, and verify accuracy of project survey data and manage survey database.Review processed data collection and field notes for quality control
- Assist with survey computations, staking / control exhibits, and survey crew instructions forconstruction staking and field survey projects
- Assistance of operation of GPS equipment, total stations, levels, data collectors and othersurvey equipment
- Act as survey field technician as requested to complete survey field work
- Assist CAD Techs in preparing plans and plats describing in detail the surveysperformed
- Maintain professional and productive working relationships with all clients andcoworkers
- Operate a company vehicle
- Observe safety and security procedures
Required Skills / Abilities
- Work to gain or advance knowledge of land surveying operations, computations, principles andpractices
- Work to gain understanding or advance ability to read and interpret engineering plans andconstruction documents
- Knowledgeable with on-site office operation, office workflow processes and problem- solvingtechniques
- Work to gain understanding of survey operations and identification of potentialproblems
- Knowledgeable with AutoCAD C3D, survey, GPS, MS Office software
- Possesses oral and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate with clients, officials, contractors, coworkers and professionallyrepresent IMEG
- Valid driver's license with ability to be insured by IMEG carrier; must consent to a MotorVehicle Record (MVR) background check
- Proficient in Microsoft and MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, andOutlook
- Ability to travel with occasional overnight stays
Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required
- Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred
- This position is not eligible for sponsorship
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25pounds
- Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and graspor pull
- Will have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises
