Position Information Job Summary
The EMS Laboratory Technician aids in the education of EMS students and should possess sound clinical knowledge in EMS.
Job Duties
1. Assist the Program Coordinator and ancillary staff with all course paperwork, data collection / entry, copying, faxing, emailing and postage of various program content
2. Assist Program Coordinator with lab and / or class services to include gathering needed equipment, room set-up, take-down and exam proctoring.
Assists with Scenario / Role-Playing Exercises and evaluations of classroom or lab activities
3. Cleaning specialty rooms / labs to include vacuuming, dusting, etc.
4. Transporting of supplies and / or equipment to the various teaching location on campus.
5. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
1. State of Michigan EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic licenses in good standing.
2. AHA BLS (ACLS is required for all Paramedic Techs).
3. One (1) year experience in current level of licensure with a transporting life support agency.
4. Currently working for a transporting life support agency.
5. Hold a state of Michigan operator driver’s license (in good standing)
6. Ability to complete all tasks of the EMT / Paramedic Core Performance Standards.
7. Available for both night, day, and weekend offerings.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Paramedic license.
2. Associate Degree in EMS or Related Field.
3. Five+ years of relevant field experience.
4. Community college / higher education experience.
5. Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes.
6. Experience with distance learning and / or alternate instructional delivery systems.
7. EMS-Specific Courses (ACLS, BLS, PALS, PHTLS, etc.).
8. Michigan EMS Instructor / Coordinator License.
