ABOUT THE JOB

The Director, Software Quality Assurance will be highly skilled in software quality engineering with a strong background in Microsoft technologies.

This role will require an ability to work as a key leader of our engineering team for a rapidly growing company. With a strong background in software testing methodologies, automation and team leadership.

This role is responsible for defining and implementing quality standards, processes and best practices across our software development lifecycle.

Our company provides Corporate Performance Management (CPM) software for large corporations. Our product is designed for high-end deployments at customer facilities or in the Microsoft Azure cloud.

The core engine contains complex OLAP, multi-dimensional, multi-server, multi-threading, web, and SQL technologies and is specifically designed to solve problems for the Office of Finance at extremely large corporations.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Create and strategize quality assurance strategies and best practices (test plans, test cases, enhanced documentation, increased test result visibility, manual / automation balance, etc).
  • Drive the implementation of test automation frameworks and tools to increase test coverage and efficiency.
  • Define key quality metrics and reporting mechanisms to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Lead and mentor a team of quality engineers, ensuring that they have the resources and support needed to excel in their roles.
  • Work closely with cross functional teams, including development, product management and operations to ensure alignment on quality goals and priorities.
  • Customer focus on communicating best practices, gather insight and collaboration and ensure that the feedback is brought back to the team for knowledge and growth.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and optimization within the software development lifecycle, driving efficiency and quality throughout.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive quality strategy that aligns with business objectives and drives continuous improvement.
  • Ensure distribution of project status updates to other departments to build awareness of current projects, gather feedback, and seek input for future initiatives.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to software quality, ensuring that potential issues are addressed proactively.
  • Ensure that software products meet all relevant regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in software quality engineering and drive knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Oversee the assembly of platform QA teams, task delegation, and staff scheduling.
  • Conduct performance appraisals, coaching and mentoring to quality assurance engineers.
  • Encourage professional development, and ensure the presence of appropriate training initiatives, within the quality assurance team.
  • Participate in the hiring and training processes as necessary.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Formal Education and Certification

Bachelor's Degree in an engineering or IT-related field or Certification / s (ie. ISTQB, ASQ).

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • 15+ years of experience in software quality engineering with at least 8 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience establishing and leading quality assurance groups / departments / teams, while implementing effective quality assurance strategies and best practices.
  • Proven experience with Agile / Scrum Development Methodologies.
  • Enterprise software experience, Cloud or SaaS providers, or web application providers is key.
  • Experience with software testing in a manual and automation QA environment.
  • Recent Microsoft technology focus.
  • Experience using tools such as Azure DevOps, SQL Server, Quality Center, Load Runner, Selenium or similar tools.
  • EPM / CPM Knowledge or financial background.
  • OLAP and multidimensionality.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience with Consolidation Software, such as : OneStream XF, Hyperion Financial Management (HFM), SAP BOFC (Cartesis), SAP Outlooksoft BPC, IBM Cognos, Other EPM solutions.
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile and DevOps.
  • Demonstrated expertise in test automation tools and frameworks.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross functional teams.
  • Proven track record of driving process improvement and delivering high-quality software products.

  • Ability to leverage technical expertise to drive innovation, efficiency, and competitive advantage.

  • Capable of constructing clear, rational arguments and making strategic decisions that are well-supported by data and analysis.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position is responsible for the direct supervision of the Software Quality Assurance Managers and potentially senior level Quality Assurance Engineers.
