Opportunities Unlimited is hiring full-time Supported Employment Specialists. Our human services agency provides one-on-one Job Development and Job Coaching support for adults with developmental disabilities.
Flexible work schedule. A minimum of 32 hours per week is required. Initially, you will interview potential clients to find a good match.
Once you are placed with your clients together, you can create a schedule that works for both of you. You must proactively contact our clients and potential job sites to schedule meetings.
Your work hours might be in the community, at job sites, or in the client's home (this is not an office job). Available work locations are in Multnomah, Clackamas, Columbia, and Washington Counties.
We are looking for someone to commit to at least one year. Being reliable, energetic, resourceful, engaging, creative, adaptable, and proactive is imperative!
Required Qualifications :
MUST have prior Job Development and / or Job Coaching experience.
MUST be reliable, proactive, and a self-starter who can work independently!
Excellent verbal & organizational skills
High school diploma (college background preferred)
CPR certificate (must have on the first day working with clients)
Ability to pass a criminal history check & drug screen
Reliable transportation with a clean driving record
Computer savvy update and re-save MS Word documents. Internet Search, scanning, print, and send email attachments.
Ability to write very detailed progress reports at each visit with clients.
Experience working with developmental disabilities is preferred but not required.
Must have a smartphone
Must be state certified to provide job development and coaching (if you have experience in either job development or job coaching but are not state certified, please do turn in your application.
If you are the right fit for OU, we will put you through paid, state-certified training)
Commit to at least one year on the job
Job Duties :
Call, email, and text clients to regularly secure meet-up dates and times.
Provide 1 : 1 support to help clients obtain their employment goals : learning how to write resumes and cover letters, fill out employment applications, learn how to dress for interviews, interview / communication skills, finding employment (researching jobs online, stopping by / calling local businesses, and speaking with the hiring manager on behalf of our clients), job coaching (help clients learn all aspects of their job until natural supports are built, and job retention has been met).
Provide training and support to clients in a positive, respectful, and consistent manner : Re-directing, safety skills, providing cues, and increasing independence.
The job entails driving to local businesses and speaking with hiring managers. Once the client is hired, the client’s work shift becomes the same shift as the Job Developer / Coach until the client is self-sufficient and independent.
This could be anywhere from 3 months up to 6+ months. Typical Job Coaching shifts for each client are anywhere from 3-6 hours, usually 2-3 times per week to begin with.
Once the client is independent at their job, the Job Coach continues to work with them long-term, with monthly meetups / job check-ins happening 2-4 times.
You will have multiple clients and must visit each job site as the client’s work schedule allows.
Utilize your computer to input data into documents to record visits.
Calculate the number of hours and dates for each month’s billing cycle.
Attend all required training and meetings.
Ability to follow legal requirements of The State of Oregon, ODDS, and DHS.

Pay is distributed monthly.
