American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift ICU position requiring 2+ years ICU and stepdown experience, with BLS and ACLS certifications.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a hospital ICU with a 12-bed unitPatient population includes cardiac arrest, COVID-positive, PUI, CVA post t-PA, nonthreatening bleeds, sepsis, DKA, and intubated patients post RRTs and MSETsNurse-to-patient ratios of 1 : 1 or 1 : 2Night shift, 7 : 00 PM – 7 : 30 AM, 12-hour shiftsWeekend requirement is every other weekend, Saturday and SundaySelf-scheduling and block scheduling available, 6 weeks at a timeFloating may be required to PCU, 6B, and medical boardersRequired to work 1 major and 1 minor holidayNo on-call requirementUnit utilizes Vents, BiPap, Cpap, High Flow oxygen equipment, Artic Sun, CRRT, and EKOS systemsRNs are required to read and interpret EKG stripsNo tele / monitor techs for critical care unit patientsClinical Technicians provide support with vital signs, EKGs, IV starts, Foley insertion, and AccuchecksCharge nurse or nurse supervisor present each shift; charge nurse only takes assignment when necessaryUnit / department orientation includes 3 precepted shiftsScrub color is Navy BlueRespiratory Therapy available 24 / 7First time travelers are welcomed\n \n Requirements\n
Active VA or compact RN license requiredMinimum 2 years of recent ICU experience with some stepdown experienceCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications requiredNIHSS, CRRT, and CCRN certifications preferred but not requiredAbility to titrate drips and troubleshoot advanced respiratory support equipmentCompetency in reading and interpreting EKG stripsExperience managing intubated and complex critical care patients\n Benefits\n
